And Guam is the part of the USA you may never have known about? This small 30 mile stretch of an Micronesian isle is located in a vast strip of the Pacific Ocean - Tokyo and Manila, two of the major towns in the vicinity, are still about 1,600 northeast and 1,600 southwest respectively.

However, it is precisely this state of affairs, which is accessible to much of East Asia, that prompted the United States to extradite Spain as sovereign territory in 1898.
