Pahiatua

When you travel to Pahiatua, you will be welcomed by large tree-lined parks that divide the street into alleys to the north and south; these lovely city parks take up a plot of ground initially intended for a railroad line that was built instead just outside the city. Situated at the northerly end of Pahiatua is the one-of-a-kind view of a copy of the Harvard plane from the Second World War, which has been transformed into a children's chute and is one of the many attractions on the children's play area.

Pongaroa offers a wide range of sights and attractions to choose from. Hike through the town and see the mural paintings depicting the way of living of Pongaroa and its pastoralists. Explore the local shrub or explore the town square with its memorial to Dr. Maurice Wilkings, who was borne in Pongaroa and received the Nobe...l Award for his contribution to the discovery of the mysteries of genetic engineering.

Pongaroa Hotel serves affordable lunches and you can also buy at the Pongaroa Store. It' just a quick excursion to the beautiful Waihi Falls or Akitio Beach.
