Rarotonga Travel Tips
About Rarotonga Travel TipsOur home was Tupe's Beach Haus - for us a true value for our price. It is not a luxury but it is very neat and has all the necessary facilities - a queen-sized queen sized beds, fridge, refrigerator, deepfreeze, microwaves, electric cooker, widescreen TV, disc players, CD players, washing machines, mosquito screens and ceiling fans.
It is only a few years old and lies directly at the Vaimaanga Laguna with snorkelling. There is only one critique: the building is very near the street & for those who have trouble sleep the sound of a car can be a problem.
On 2 Saturday of our visit we went to the Punanga Nui Market, mainly to absorb the ambience & secondly because we could. One premiere for us this year were the regional nightspots - we went to one in Arorangi & one in Muri during our sojourn. Most of the stores were stands for meals - a good chance for a cosy dinner at sensible rates.
Muri was much bigger & also had fun & had a true home vibe. In the evenings we ate at home, we bought Ocean Fresh sea food & we were not dissapointed by the meats we bought from Prime Meats. There were 18 wholes of gulf on "Royal Rarotonga" - well, my other half already - it was much too hot for me, I took 4 wholes & went "home to swim", but came back by a few hour later.
We' re fortunate enough to be at the Raro Rugby Union big final and have been cheering on our favourite spot at the Reserves & A Grade matches. We' ve brought some lunch - mainly cheese, sausages and pies with our after lunch beverages (which we bought free of tax on our way to Raro at better rates than in New Zealand).
Flyboat, Touro, Kikau Hut, Cafe Ariki, Vaima, Bamboo Jacks & Tamarind House.
