The Rotuma is a Fiji addiction made up of Rotuma Iceland and surrounding isles. This archipelago is home to a large and singular tribal ethnical group, a recognizable majority within Fiji's people known as "Rotumans". In the 2007 survey, 2,002 people lived on the Fiji continent, with a total of 10,000 inhabitants.

They are 646 kilometers (Suva to Ahau) northern of Fiji. It is 13 km long and 4 km broad, with a surface area of about 47 km2 [1], making it the twelfth biggest Fijii.

It is divided into a large east part and a west part of the mainland, with a low narrowness only 230 meters in width, the position of the town of Motusa (Itu'ti'u district). The Rotuma is a sign volcanic rock of alkaline Olivin and Hawaiian with many small conical shapes and grows 256 meters above sealevel at Suelhof near the islander.

The Satarua Peak, 166 meters high, is situated at the east end of the isle. 2 ] The large coastline and pristine sandy beach are among the most attractive in Fiji. Some of the islets are between 50 meters and 2 kilometers from the major one, but still within the fringe reef: H?uamea'me'a and H?ua (H?uati'u) (close together in the northeast).

In addition, there is a distinct string of islets between 3 km (1.9 miles) and 6 km (3.7 miles) northeast and westerly of the most westerly point of Rotuma Island. Lingual proofs point to an initial Fijian village. Among the languageists is the Rotuman in a sub-group with the Fiji dialects of Fiji, but Rotuman also has a large number of Polyynesian loan words, which indicates a later exposure to Samoa and Tonga.

Though it has been part of Fiji since 1881, Rotuman civilization is more like that of the eastern Polynesia Isles, especially Tonga, Samoa, Futuna and Uvea.

Due to their Polyynesian look and their unmistakable languages, the Rotumans represent a discernible ethnic minorities within the Republic of Fiji. A large number of Rotumans (9,984 after the 2007 Fiji census) now reside elsewhere in Fiji, with 1,953 Rotumans staying on Rotuma. Rotarians are cultural conservatives and cultivate their traditions in the face of changes caused by greater outreach.

In 1985, about 85 per cent of Rotumans were still voting against opening the country to the tourist industry because they were unaware of the impact of the West. Nationally, Fijians of Rotary origin shall appoint a member of the Fiji Chamber of Representatives and the Rotuma Council shall appoint a member of the Senate of Fiji.

The Rotuma is also a member of the Great Council of Chiefs through three elected by the Rotuma Council. The Reds were previously classed as Fijians for election campaign reasons, but when the constitution was reviewed in 1997-1998, they were given independent representations at their own will. Rotuma (together with Taveuni and the Lau Islands) is also part of the Lau Taveuni Rotuma Open Constituency, one of 25 districts whose members are elected by popular vote.
