Attractions and accommodation on the outer islands of Vanuatu. Port Vila Dive Resorts & Liveaboards Vanuatu's main city, Port Vila, is situated on the southern shore of the Efate archipelago, a protected port southbound. Scuba diving in Port Vila is easy: spend a whole weekend at Hideaway Iceland Resort, or spend a full days diving with Big Blue Vanuatu right in the city-center.

Explore Scuba Diving or even study diving and get Open Water certification with both. It is the most neo-copolitical town in Vanuatu and has a number of 5-star hotels. Port Vila's cuisine, long associated with the French, is above the southern Caribbean mean.

Situated on the same degree of latitude as Cooktown, in the far northern part of Queensland and Fiji, and on the same degree of longitudes as Norfolk Island. Efate and Port Vila operations include: The Hideaway Island Dive: a fully featured 5 star PADI diving centre with two yachts and over 20 sites within a ten minutes cruise of Mele Bay.

One of the most beautiful beaches in Port Vila, Big Blue: situated directly on the water in the center of Port Vila, also PADI 5 starged. As I concentrate on diving and love the sense that I can roll out my BCD for a 20 meter long stroll to the beach, I can strongly suggest the Hideaway Island Resort, which is a place to stay, a sea reserve and a diving base. Hideaway Island's lodging is environmentally sound and lies between the pristine rainforest tree-leaf.

The Hideaway is a fully featured 5 star PADI diving area. Located directly on the water, the diving shop has the well-deserved fame of being a relaxing haven for scuba and snorkelling. With over 20 sites located just 10 min from the beach, two diving vessels can welcome individuals, adventuresome scuba diver and large groups of combined snorkellers and scuba diver.

There are many good places to eat in Port Vila. Except you have a special need to be very fit, there is little sense in renting a cars, as in most cases, the operator, whether a resorts or an attract, will take you to where you need to go in comforts.

They' re also great cinematographers, so if you trust your cameras to one of them, you'll appreciate the memory and you won't even have to buy the DVDs (there is no DVDs - Ed.) There are great vistas directly over Mele Bay and if you live in Hideaway Bay, you'll probably see your room.

The next ascent into the port of Port Vila we could clearly see. Summit Gardens were designed by Jim and Lesley Batty to show the Vanuatu city. But if you look for the right places, you might find the best little pastry shop in Port Vila, known as "Au Peche Mignon".

As we always encourage the hoisting of the community banner, Air Vanuatu must be your first choise. Vanuatu Air flies from Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland directly to Port Vila - but not every daily. You can also fly from Nadi and Suva (Fiji), Noumea (New Caledonia) and Honiara (Solomon Islands) to Port Vila - if you remember to visit some of the neighboring isles; but again not every single night.
