Don't be amazed if you are spying on a celeb or two spying on their feet in the sand of Wailea. Surrounded by some of the island's most luxury resort areas (including Four Seasons, Andaz and Grand Wailea), this gold route offers breathtaking vistas of the other side of Maui and the remote Isol.

You can even see humpback whales during the great time of the year ('January to March) breaking from your deck chairs or, in our case, from the Grand Wailea's Bistro Molokini during a cocktail.

Maui has experienced a series of sharks in recent years. All the beaches referred to in this section are outlined on this chart. The most beautiful beaches of West Maui are quite close along the west bank with a view of the Lanai and Molokai isles. Between Lahaina - Kaanapali road transport and car parks can be particularly demanding and for the best view of the setting sun, the further you go to the southern direction the better.

Between Papawai Point and Lahaina, the coast route is peppered with small beaches favoured by local people and sundowners. Olowalu Airport was the most appealing stop for me on this route. It is a favourite snorkelling site, thanks to a sandy bay stretching from a cay.

Do not use any equipment or rescue swimmers, do not leave your vehicle on loose sands. Kaanapali region, the first masterfully designed seaside health spa in the USA, occupies the most beautiful stretch of gold sands on West Maui, a haven for family, wedding and all-inclusive vacationers, Kaanapali offers over a dozen high-end destinations, a few golfs, malls and a few thousand wicker baskets and cabinas.

There is a large sandy area in both length and width, so you will have no problems to find your place, just make sure you have some shad. The Black Rock Beaches (Pu'u Keka'a), which closes off Kaanapali Beaches at its northerly end, is achieved either by walking on the smooth gold sands or by walking northwards on the cobbled Ka'anapali Beaches Walk, which parallels the blus.

It is the most beautiful part of the stretch of land and you can go snorkelling, diving off the rocks or just climbing up to get a panorama view of the coast and the nearby hills. There are no amenities, pool attendants present, free car parks for non-resort visitors are restricted. Kahekili Beaches, the relaxed and relaxing place to the neighbouring Kaanapali Beaches, is mainly located on the "other side" of Pu'u Keka'a (Black Rock Beaches - see above).

One thing I particularly liked about this particular sandy spot is the long sandy and gold beaches, which run in both direction, ideal for a long walk during the morning or before sundown. Shower and barbecue area fully equipped. Kapalua is reminiscent of Mauna Kea on Big Island and is protected by rocks at both ends.

The sheltered water, palms and gold sands make it one of the most sought after beaches in West Maui. Two Kapalua Beaches are supported by Kapalua Beaches, making it a very favourite place for couples with kids and spa-goers. When you are looking for a rough environment, this is not for you, but otherwise you will find here all year round secure snorkelling, safer and more.

The Kapalua is also the start/finish point for the Coastal Trail, which leads from here to D.T. Fleming Beaches - 1.76 Leagues northbound. Fully equipped and lifeguards. Aka Ironwoods is a long and small sandy stretch of land that looks and feels more like a local rather than a touristic attraction.

Like in Kaanapali Beaches, it is a little difficult to park, with only a few places for non-resorters. Macaluapuna Point (Dragon's Teeth) is easy to see from the shore and offers a welcome exercise when you need to extend your feet (it is also a good snorkel spot). Without the resorts and the course in the background, Oneloa Bay would be a very welcome away from the powerline.

There are no limits to free car parks for rescuers or rescue swimmers. It is a cliffy sandy area with the best snorkelling (Hawaiian standard) along the east side of the cliffs. Restricted access (portable toilets) and no lifeguard. Beaches in East Maui differ widely between the northern and the very arid southern shores. The beaches on the northern bank are generally more surf-friendly and wild, while on the busy southern coastline they are more suitable for chill -out and bath.

It is not really a bathing spot, but rather a sight-seeing one, you come here just before sundown to get a unique flavour of Maui. As in the case of Ho'aloha Beaches, you come to Kahana Beaches to see more than to float. Here kitesurfers and windsurfer come to one of the best beaches in the whole wide area.

Celebrate a long sandy course, wonderful vistas of the Iao Valley, nice and healthy men and woman and of course - the thrill of the game! Fully equipped with barbecue area, shadow and lifeguard. This shallow sandy spot is not very popular with visitors, especially in the early afternoons when the sundown.

Soak up a really long course of gold sands, palms and iron wood and some kitesurfers fly in the outdoors. Talking of aerial.... You will probably absorb the smell of weeds from the west side of the shore - a Mecca for the hippie and normal people. Indeed, there is a small temporary hippie encampment in the tree behind this end of the shore.

It is a little harsh, as is the case on most weather -side beaches, but the atmosphere is definitely welcoming. Fully equipped with rescue swimmer. The Kahana Beach Park is within walking distance of Baldwin Beach. Don't miss a trip to Ho'okipa Beach and its picturesque views. It is one of the best surf beaches in Hawaii and is best frequented in the afternoon when sailing is normally the best.

Maui' s surroundings are magnificent and such a beautiful sandy spot in Maui is a rare sight. Fully equipped, but no rescue swimmers. Known as Kaihalulu Beaches, you can see why this jewel is better known as "Red Sandy Beach". Slightly one of the best beaches in Hawaii and perhaps even one of the most beautiful beaches in the whole wide open spaces of the Hana Highway.

It is more or less surrounded by steep crenellations just a few metres from the coast, forming a small area where you can swim safely. It is also a great place to have a pick nick or stretch your feet before returning to the panoramic route. There are no rescuers or rescuers, restricted car parkings.

One more stop on the Hana Highway, the natives like Hamoa Beach: a half moon of smooth wood coal and palms. It is a favourite place for family with kids and body surfers, although you shouldn't swim too much. It is very demanding to park on the small street leading down to the shore.

Toilets available, no rescue swimmers. This is a really beautiful and unspoilt place, despite its position in the centre of Kihei. There' s a lot of room on the gold sands, no resort to spoil the atmosphere, and even shadows from the meadow volley ball court with a view of the sands.

A further advantage of the shore is that it can be paired with a meal or supper + beverages in Kihei without having to drive on. Wearable restrooms, no rescue swimmers. Similar to Charley Young Beaches, the only big change in Keawakapu Beaches is the individual Resorts at the north end of the beaches.

It is the best moment to come to this sandy spot in the early mornings, when palms give shadow before the heat of the day begins to boil as you approach lunchtime. Wearable restrooms, no rescue swimmers. Ulua is now located in the Wailea area of the Wailea Spa, in a protected bay with a cliff that invites you to snorkel.

There' s not much sand anymore when the waves are high, but the landscape is otherwise quite mirror-like. I have to say that they have built a very welcoming lush area between them and the beaches, which makes it a little easy to swallow this pelle.

Fully equipped, no rescue swimmers. The Wailea beaches must have been breathtaking, that is, before all the noble resort developments on the sands. There is a cobbled road up and down the shore for those who don't like the sands, and a drink shop is never too far away. I' d say Wailea is ideal for a family with kids who live in one of the resort, but for a rougher environment, drive further southwards.

There are no official institutions, rescue swimmers present. Nothing special about this shore, but the fact that it is not often overcrowded gives it so many additional points of appreciation, just give it your own shadow! There are no institutions or rescue swimmers. This is Maluaka on the" other side" of the picturesque rocky promontory that closes off the Big Beaches.

As most people go to the Big Beaches to the southwest, Maluaka remains relatively tranquil and there is a very good opportunity to see tortoises snorkelling in its water on a peaceful outing. Fully equipped, no rescue swimmers. A free car park is only 2 minutes on foot from the shore. Maui' s most popular sandy spot extends for one kilometer and deserves its name - Oneloa Beaches - which means "long sand" in Hawaiian.

In spite of the shortage of palms, Big Beach is impressive due to its gold sands and its blue waters. So, pay attention to the lifeguard and his warning, because some hard-boiled beach-goers have seriously hurt themselves during the high surfing times. There is a small number of shady mobile lavatories and a lifeguard. "More remote than his big southern sibling, Little Beach is preferred by the hippy, nudist and drumming world.

However, to reach this "paradise" you have to go over the cliffy summit, which is located at the north end of Big beach. There are no institutions or rescue swimmers. This is a true picture card of a beautiful sandy area. This sandy part is quite small, so that you can run out of happiness on working-day.

There are no institutions or rescue swimmers, restricted access to the roads. At the end of the line on the southern shore, the picturesque ride to the reservation is just the beginning. There is a footpath along the shore leading to some lonely beaches before it flows into a sparse array of rock. There are no rescuers, small car parks tend to fill up quickly.
