Also known as "Valley Isle", Maui has many different shores with surf for all abilities. Here are the best break corals, and the different size and formation of the corals provide for many beautiful shafts. A few available Beachbreaks exist, although they are rather average in comparison to the reefbreaks.

Maui' s lakes are mostly clear, and the bottom cliffs offer abundant ocean living while you wait for a break. Make sure you are wearing boties or riff boots and pay attention to your flatter areas when paddling out. Several other dangers are urchin, jelly fish and cave tigers; if they are caught by cliffs or hot corals, make sure you leave the ocean immediately.

Situated on the Maui' s southerly and westerly banks, the long, softly curving wave set is perfect for windsurfing lessons. You will find some wonderful sandy spots along the Lahaina and Kaanapali coasts and many good surfclubs. Most of the surf school on Maui offer standing windsurfing after the first hour, and in some of the flatter areas you don't even have to be able to swimm to surf!

Even though it' difficult as long as you feel good in the sea, it is possible to capture a long, light surge near the shores. At Kihei on Maalea Beach on the southern coastline, novices can surf at Buzz's Warf. Maui is also home to many skilled to pro world-class surfers, especially on the northern coastline and in winters.

The bay of Honolua on the northern coast is home to a mesmerising right turn, and Hookipa is known as the best place in the windsurfing underwater. Also known as Jaws, the origin of tow-in windsurfing is the only way to reach this huge waves when the right northern wind comes.

In a southerly sea breeze, skilled windsurfers stream to the Maalaea pipeline, probably the state' s quickest right turn. Maui offers good year round windsurfinging. At Lahaina, take Highway 30 eastbound to Wailuku, turn right onto Kaahumana Avenue, then turn Lahaina into Lower Main Street, then turn Lahaina right onto Waiehu Beach Road.

QualityDecent Right and Left, most of the while. It can be strong and cupped. A surf commercial generally reserved for the more advanced surfer, the Kahului Harbor becomes heavier and more powerfull and has really big waves. Quality WaveThis is another pearl in the area, this surf commercial will be really good.

It can be very cavernous and quick and works with all kinds of waves. The Surf LocationOn the northern center shaore, am Ende des Peahi Valley. Approximately three leagues upstate from Paia, on the Hana Highway. QualityJaws is probably the most popular Big Wheel Tow-In surf commercial in the game. Jaws is a very quick and empty right hand for big winterswells, which only works for tow-surfing.

Shaft qualityLarge, well-formed shafts. Farthest eastwards are pavilions, then middles, two quick and ledgery right point fractures. Between these two are less common pauses known as Girlie Bowl or Green Trees. There is H-Poko (Point), a right hand breaking which is famous for surfing. Farthest on the western side is Lanes, an incidental lef.

ASP Woman's World Tour and one of the best wave events in Hawaii. This is a cavernous and strong riff with many different parts, all connected on the right time. Even the best snorkelling on Maui when the sea is shallow.

QualityOccasional right and lefthand side of the Wave Series. Surfspot can get quite empty and quick and holds in quite big surf. Located on the North-West shore, take Hwy 30, between Napili and Kapalua, 20 min by car from Lahaina Town. Surfing LocationWest Coastline, in Papalaua Park, take State Route 30 (Honoapiíilani Highway) to Lahaina.

World Wave QualityA empty, quick, powerful and ledgery lefthand riffbreak. LocationShore to Lahaina, just off the intersections of Shaw and Front Streets, before reaching the sealed road leading to Kauaula Road.

The entrance is just off the intermission just north, look for the boots. QualityPowerful Wave permissions and links that become completely generic. Quality WavePowerful and enjoy right and lefthand riff breaking, a lot of surfers, and a lot of surf. Reasonable beginners surf commercial. From Surf LocationDrive to Kihei, follow the Piíilani Highway (State Route 31) to the end, the street turns right and turns into Wailea Iki Drive.

Drive to the foot of the mound and turn to your lefthand into Wailea Alanui Drive, which merges into Makena Alanui Drive, drive to Makena State Park. World Wave QualityA brief fracture of the coral shelf on the lefthand side. That body will be quite hard with a sound southern swell, and can last up to 16 ft.
