No matter if you appreciate the classic or the present, the performance art of the capitol will inspire you. On almost every corner in Moscow you can see gold cupolas jutting out over the roofs, and you can listen to bell towers ringing through the street, littered with about 600 temples, many of which glisten after recent work.

Orthodoxy has been helping to redefine the identity of the Russians for more than a thousand years, a meaning that can be felt in these atmospherical places. Once you've learned about the former writer and messenger commemorated on the plaza, take your small group through the side streets while listening to stories about the old part of the village at dark.

Take the famous Annushka tramway through the bustling and illuminated downtown Moscow roads; the initial A-line was opened at the beginning of the twentieth centuries and this section was renovated in 1997. Drive to Kitay Gorod to stroll through alleys full of vernacular Russia and the Soviets and watch the night life of Moscow's best modern nightclubs.

At Chitrovka, your tour leader will tell your group about Moscow's crime in the nineteenth centuries, when crowds of rowdies took to the street. Listen to scary tales of the famous Muscovites as you explore enigmatic monuments such as the Archangel Tower and the home of Bruce the Wizard, a scientist and space scientist known as an Alchemist and Mage.

Near kilometer zero, where a bronzed tablet indicates the centre of Moscow, from which all distance to the capital is counted, flip a fortune as you hear more municipal legend and see Russia's Masonic House, hidden cult sites and Devil's Square on Kulichki, the site of the former heathen papal shrine.
