Today the municipality is made up of 78 full-time inhabitants. The number of inhabitants grows to over 200 in summers when the seasons come back every year to savour the ocean, the waves and the amazing variety of locally grown shellfish, often sharing with full-time inhabitants who welcome the yearly invasion. Barthélemy de Cabarrus, one of the leading Cap Breton masters, first came to this area to deal with the Louisbourg France troops around 1713, when Louisbourg Fortress was made.
In 1733, his sons and grandchildren traded with Louisbourg until the seizure of the Louisbourg estate by a Dutch vessel that attempted to escape the Great Britains blocking during the last besiege of the fort in 1758.
