Over half of Hawaii's 25 best houses are on the Kona Coast, and they are all in residential resorts - Kukio, Mauna Lani, Mauna Kea and Hualalai.

" Palekaiko Limited Partnership, whose Montreal offices are identical to Cirque du Soleil's head offices, is the official owner of the real estate. Situated on the outskirts of the Mauna Kea Resort, next to the old Lurline Roth property, this vast 5 hectare property is the northernmost of our Kona Coast homes.

It is one of the few real estate on our roster that has sells for less than its estimated value. The Chikako Takeda achieved this Kahala Avenue monument for an economical $9.7 million in 2002. Although you can't see it on the picture, the building is twice as long as it is broad.

The 17,408 square feet large interiors are almost half a hectare cottage. In 2005, when we collected the 25 most costly houses on Oahu, this Kahala home was at the top of the ranking. Not even the most pricey real estate in Kahala this year. The homeowner Tomomi Kimura, president of a Tokyo-based cruise line, hired the home in 1992, the same year the Barcelona Olympic Games were underway.

"Yamamoto recalls when HONOLULU asked him in 2005 that "the proprietor wanted the designs to mirror this Barcelona style". When this area on Kahala Avenue looks like a beach front Motel, then somehow it is. Most of the land is used by the Konami Corp. family. Further characteristics are 50 foot long glazed window, a training area, a barbeque area and a state-of-the-art audio-visual system, says Toshi Suzuki, the resident designer who created the site's front side in 2000.

McCaffery's 3 million dollar home stands alone on a point in Makena, bordered on three sides by the sea. Wailea's land, known as sand surge, is not used as a full-time resident.
