The Oahu is the most beloved island of Hawaii. Waikiki's reputation, the large variety of cheap accommodation and many airlines flying directly to Honolulu make it an ease of use.

Oahu is much more than Honolulu. This picturesque wind coastline (east coast) has many beautiful shores and is a favourite for those who like holiday houses over them. Oahu's northern shores, renowned for their dramatic wintersurfing, also have kilometre-long sand shores that are quiet in summers. That part of the island is much calmer than the busy area of Honolulu, which is 1h away.

On the other end of the range are the least inhabited of all the archipelagos, such as Molokai and Lanai. Recently awarded by National Geographic Traveler as an environmentally friendly traveler, but you won't find many common touristic sites here. It' a place to unwind, but there's still a lot to do, which includes walking, discovering the island's secluded places with a 4x4 jeep, snorkeling/diving, sports clowning, horse back-riding and golfing on the two world-class classes of Jack Nicklaus (Challenge at Manele) and Greg Norman (Experience at Koele).

There are still many touristic facilities such as chopper flying, snorkelling, hiking and canoeing. The most luxuriant and greenest island, Kauai is the oldest in the Hwaiian range. Usually it rains more than on the other isles, but that's what makes it so nice.

Hawaii has its own unique personality. There are no long sand beaches and its mere dimensions make travelling to different places more of a daily excursion. Its perhaps biggest draw is the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, which lies inland with the Kilauea Crater at the South.

Big Island has many nice coastlines at Kohala (e.g. Hapuna) and golfs (Mauna Kea's classical para 3 over the sea is an often imitated beauty) and also offer chopper flying over the craters, snorkelboating, walking, horse back riding, etc... Whatever island you are visiting, you will not be frustrated and you will be starving to return to Hawaii to see more.

As a general guideline, you should stay at least 1 weekend on one island and only go to a second island if you have more to do. Every island has a lot to discover.
