Molokai: Hawaii's Best Held Secret

However, please be aware that the debate on 1 November 2016 was adjourned for further contributions and some of the information herein may therefore be out of date and cannot currently be commentated by travellers. Include this in your travel arrangements. Moloka'i is the "last" of Hawaii' islands (you can see it), which is largely spared from large tourist and hotel industries.

Moloka'i is the 4th biggest of Hawaii. It is not crowded and quiet with about 8,000 inhabitants. There are no branches and restaurant in the major isles. Moloka'i is generally for those who have already been to the four major isles and are looking for a one-of-a-kind old-style Hawaii adventure.

Moloka'i really is the Island of Hawaii. At Moloka'i it seems as though the clock has stopped. Only 15 minutes from the Honolulu Racing rats, you will be taken back 100 years. They say if Hawaiians want to see Hawaii, they come to Moloka'i. This is the place where you don't find the alpha on any other isle.

A very arid western side of the archipelago is characterised by huge sandy and gentle hilly areas. The Moloka'i Ranch is completely enclosed, and most of the western end is thus intact. At the western end, the sandy areas are wonderful and peaceful, well deserved.

You' ll probably get tired if you remain on the western side. On the eastern end of the archipelago is luxuriant, verdant & hilly, & can be viewed along the lonely, curvy coast street. It' a lot nicer at the eastern end than it is at the western end. You can find most of the Moloka'i attraction here.

Here is also the only true city of the isle, Kaunakakakai. The Hula Grill at Hotel Moloka'i is the only place for delicious food, albeit in the relaxed Moloka'i sea-fashion. The Hula Grill also has the only genuine barbecue place on the isle. You have nocturnal HAWAIAN entertainments, especially Fr./Sa.

The Moloka'i Hotel is a good place to stay, but not the best for most. You have two good possibilities for fully furnished condominiums on the beach on the eastern side. You are Moloka'i Shores, near the municipality of Kaunakakakai, and Moloka'i Wavecrest, 12 leagues afar. Further eastwards are the Dunbar huts. You can find a few other agents in the city, but you are not sure what you will get.

Moloka'i has mile & mile of debris 4 wd streets, many of which end up on an empty clandestine sand by name. There' s easy access from anywhere on the islands. Sometimes you can go several mile without overtaking another one. Wildlife can be crossing the street at any moment, so be vigilant, especially at nights.

Note that Moloka'i has a living and productive populations of insects.
