Traditionally abbreviated states and counties begin with a capitals and end with a dots. With the exception of the abbreviation D.C., if it follows Washington, which can be used at any given moment, use the state and provincial acronyms only in schedules, plans, diagrams, adresses, and informational documents. Do not abbreviate states, counties and lands in official documents - the exception are the relatively long U.S.A., U.S.A., U.S.S.R. and C.I.S., which can be used at any tim.
