We also have a few other bushes, rivers and'off the well-trodden tracks' that you may want to try out and which are listed below. By bicycle or on foot from Paek?k?riki through the sand dunes of Queen Elizabeth Park to Pappelallee in Raumati South. The Greater Wellington Regional Council has created this joint path and it is the best way to explore the hilly dune country of Queen Elizabeth Park.

Take this path from Paek?k?riki to Pukerua Bay, which is 220 meters above sealevel, high above State Highway 1 and the railroad line. Please be sure to review the route state on the Te Araroa website before starting your hike. Restrooms and snacks are available at both ends of the course at Paek?k?riki and Pukerua Bay.

Terms of approval of resources and agreements with landowners and Kiwirail that grant open road to the country are that no horse, dog, bicycle or motorized vehicle is allowed. Entrance: Nimmo Avenue West, Greenaway Road, Weggery Drive et Tutere Street. From SH1, this soft trail follows the northern side of the SH1 to the Te Arawai pedestrian bridge and on to the estuary through a number of gardens, reservations and plots of ground.

Please be aware that there is restricted entrance for riders on the northern shore. Entrance: The trail follows the southern banks of the riverbank through countryside and reservations. Restoration plantations, a quiet walk, cool down in the riverbank, the Te Arawai pedestrian bridge and Otaraua Park. Afterwards it becomes a hitchhiking course that is only suited for hitchhikers.

Hike through the Barry Hadfield Nikau Reservation, which encompasses 11 ha of the region' s most important Kohekohe/Nikauest. Entrance: Coming from the southern side, turn off SH1 at the Lindale junction (north of Paraparaumu) and the reservation is on the lefthand side with a parking lot before the street branches off under SH1.

When you drive in a northerly direction, take the Lindale junction just before Paraparaumu, but following the signs at the traffic circle into the Nikau valley, then take the first street on the lefthand side, which leads into the parking lot of the Nikau reserve. The route leads 120 meters from the parking lot past the columns of the Nikau palms from the parking lot at the bottom to a picknic area at the top.

Arrived there, there is a panorama view of the coastline, cities, the island Kapiti and the coastline in the northern part, where Mt Taranaki can be seen on clear day. It is an important part of a string of forests between the Tararua Ranges and Kapiti Island. Entrance: By Raumati Escarpment Reservoir - 0,5km to the Waterfall Road at SH1.

At the Waterfall Road parking lot, it' s a 15 minute walk to June Rowland viewpoint. Entrance: Matatua Road or Kiwi Road. Entrance: 6 km uphill along the dirt road to lower Mt Wanui and Akatarawa Forest. Great view of QE and the island K?piti

Left to Whareroa Farm and Perhams Rd. At the end of ?taki Gorge Rd at SH1. It is a small, curvy street with easy walking trails and three of the most famous hiking trails, among them the Southern Crossing. Entrance: Coming from SH1 just off the river west of the viaduct.
