10 of New Zealand's most beautiful lakes on the South Island

We are 100% sure that this place is paradise on the world. One of the things that really blew us away is the lakes. When you plan to tour New Zealand, we suggest you try to explore as many lakes as possible.

In order to help you make the right decision, we have compiled this listing of the most beautiful lakes on New Zealand's South Island. Well-known for its reflective view of Mt Cook, Matheson is our favorite among the lakes on New Zealand's South Island. A hike around the pond lasts about an hour and a half and the trail is usually shallow as it meanders through thick rain forest on the shore of the lakes.

It is not far from the Fox and was created about 14,000 years ago, when the ice receded and left a hollow in the bottom, which later fills with running waters and becomes the reservoir we see today. The best opportunity to see the infamous mirror image is to come to the reservoir early in the mornings on a quiet outing.

Not far from one of New Zealand's most famous lakes (Lake Tekapo), Pukaki is probably one of the most underestimated lakes on the South Island of New Zealand. When you cross the climb on the Tekapo highway, Lake Pukaki emerges out of nowhere and amazes the riders when they are driving at 100 kph to 60 kph.

Glacial meal, muddy rocks due to degradation, gives the powdered color of the water a bluish color. It is not only the color that makes this beautiful and beautiful that makes this beautiful little pond, the highest peak in New Zealand, Mt Cook, lies in the far northern part of the pond. Cruise along the lakeside to Mt Cook Village.

It' about 50 min and is one of New Zealand's most astonishing rides. Wanaka and its wonderful sea is probably our favorite place in the whole wide globe (yes, big call!). New Zealand in the form of the fourth biggest pond, Wanaka Mountain, is set all year round by high snow-capped peaks and contrasted with the shades of barren mountain dun.

Journey along the shore of the lagoon (and its sibling, Hawea) is a must for any exploree. You can also find a few well-liked hiking and cycling trails around the beautiful lakeside, which record the beautiful scenery at a slowdown. If you come from the Haast Pass from the northern side, you have the most breathtaking view of the area.

The next moment you are in the thick rain forest and the next the scenery opens up and you can see the beautiful scenery of Longkør. The Wakatipu is New Zealand's longest with 80 km and is famous for the remarkable chain of hills that line its southeast. Queenstown, the largest town in the area, also skirts the shores of the sea and is an ideal starting point for discovering the area.

There' s a street winding from Kingston in the south to Glenorchy in the north. You can also take a cruise on the backwards N-shaped lakes arm on a historical steamship. Glenorchy from Queenstown along the shores of Queenstown is considered one of the best cruises in New Zealand and we have to approve.

The Tekapo is one of New Zealand's most frequently taken lakes, especially because of its deep pink color on April 7. In the Mackenzie valley near the Pukaki Sea (mentioned above), it has a small village of the same name at the southern end of the lago.

On the shore of the lakeside is the renowned Good Shepherd's Cathedral. This small chapel was constructed in 1935 and has an alter glass with a breathtaking view of the mountain and lakes.

Situated in the centre of the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve, Tekapo is one of the world' s deepest places and ideal for stargazing at noon. The gate to Fiordland and the unbelievable Milford Sound, Te Anau is a small village on the eponymous pond.

Te Anau is the second biggest in New Zealand and the biggest on the South Island with an area of 344km². There are two top New Zealand hikes starting at the lakeside. Milford Track begins at the north tip of the water and Kepler Track begins and ends at the south tip of Waiau River.

Part of the trip to the glow-worm caverns is a ride on the water at twilight. Situated not far from Te Anau Lakes, this Fiordland Lakes has a very interesting Maori myth. They say the water was formed by the teardrops of two nuns who were sons of an old chieftain in the area.

The Moturua was near Koronae until they were dying, their teardrops created Manapouri Sea. Cruising Manapouri is the first stage of the trip to Doubtful Sounds. Trips to the Royal Wilmot Pass to the sounds of the Wilmot Pass.

Hawea Lake is one of New Zealand's most deep lakes and is located in a glacier vale that was created during the last glaciation. Lake Wanaka is located in a glacier vale in the western part and at its next point, a cliff named The Neck, the lakes are only 1 km apart.

Neck lookouts are one of our favorites in New Zealand. Ensure that you make a stop there on the way through. Although the area of the Lake Dunstan is small (only 26 km²), this artificial pond is one of the most beautiful in New Zealand. Its origins were highly controversial due to the geology issues involved in its building, but today it is used by local people and tourists for leisure pursuits such as angling, water skiing and boat trips.

One good way to see the beautiful lakeshore is to cruise through Cromwell Gorge along the lakeshore from the township of Cromwell to Clyde Dam. Cruise through Cromwell stopping at the Cromwell Heritage Precinct on the outskirts of the Dunstan area.

The Mahinapua Sea is located 10 km south of the west coast city of Hokitika, a seaside resort only 500 m from the sea. A number of hiking trails around the site allow you to see the birdlife up-close and offer spectacular, reflecting outlooks. Did you visit any lakes in New Zealand?
