South Island Maori Cultures? In October our whole group ( (2 grown-ups, 2 children between 7 and 6 years) are on the South Island. Whatever I want to bring some of our family's heritage to the North Island, it seems to me that the North Island is much more focused on this? Do you have any ideas where there are some good places in our route to find out about Maori people?

In the Marae on Pages Road I believe that there are regularly held outings. Apart from the exquisite presentations in the Willow Bank and the trade exhibition in the Tamaki town near Ferrymeade, there is little in this line on the South Island that is regularly available to the population.

That won't help you much, but we found most of the interesting Maori adventures on the North Island, e.g. Waitangi Treatyhouse at the Bay of Island and Te Whakarewarewa in Rotorua.

North Island has remains of indigenous civilization and would be a far more inherent multicultural event with less enthralled by the interpretation of recent days.
