The South Auckland Forest and Bird
South Auckland Branch is one of 50 domestic offices working on a wide range of environmental protection initiatives such as afforestation, advocacy, bird watching and weeding. Being the only sovereign, community-based voices for the natural world in our area, our members and contributors have reacted to many environmental challenges and shaped the attitudes of our communities in South Auckland.
Each month, our meeting is open to the general audience and offers lectures on various issues of interest both locally and nationally. There is an energetic Kiwi Conservation Club with fun outdoor adventures that introduces kids to the great outdoors and teaches them to appreciate the indigenous flora and fauna. Its South Auckland office is dedicated to forestry conservation, insect control, waste management and waterway improvement in the area.
It also takes care of its two reservoirs, Olive Davis & Ngaheretuku, which need to be constantly maintained. Southeast Wildlink was launched in late 2017 with the goal of increasing indigenous bio-diversity between Totara Park and the Clevedon Scenic Reserve in South Auckland. The South Auckland Industry administers 2 of New Zealand's 38 forest and bird conservation areas.
Olive Davis & Ngaheretuku Reserves are remnants of the broad-leaved woodland that once laid over Auckland and was ground for cauri, rimu und dead marac. There are many ways you can support South Auckland Forestry and Bird to participate in nature protection in our area.
