Help! Where do we start? - Frenchspeaking Polynesia Message Board

It is our pleasure to live the indigenous cultures and to get a foretaste of the area. Usually we don't go "all inclusive" as this usually means you are stranded with "hotel" meals, but the place was small, very relaxed and the meal was first class and of excellent regional flavour (not what you think of in relation to "hotel" meals).

That doesn't necessarily mean we're looking for something out of the way, but we just have the feeling of a seaside lodge. We' re talking about Fiji or Bora Bora, but I was informed that the Fiji waterways are richer in tides and the Bora Bora waterways are more beautiful, and we have more accommodation in Bora Bora.

Apart from these two, we are not familiar with other South Pacific opportunities. We expect others to give us a lead in which way to go, and we can explore these opportunities further to get a sense of what we might like. It doesn't bother us to rent a car to explore a little.... we really like to explore ourselves and meander off the well-trodden paths (Bora Bora is probably too small for that, but I still think we would love it while scuba-diving and snorkeling).

Above all, we enjoy experiencing the locals cuisine - the locals and the cuisine are probably the best of our travels. Which other South Pacific isles could meet our needs?

Best, lowest-priced South Pacific location for Americans? - France Polynesia Forum

We' ve been to French Polynesia and Fiji. The Cook Islands, for example, started at 7,000 per passenger! Which other South Pacific locations, if any, would be worth a trip and reachable with (relatively) inexpensive and straight flight? Our tendency is to like the boutiques without many visitors or small kids (as we are a young couple).

Scuba divers, snorkellers, nature beauties, meals, jetski, etc. are our passion.
