AHU TAHAI AND AHU AKIVI: Cloose Engcounter with Moai Monoliths' excursion to Easter Island - Chile Holidays

This is one of the unsolved riddles of our world 4,000 km off the Chilean coastline - the great monoliths Ahu Tahai and Ahu Akivi on Easter Island have survived through the ages and radiate a magic but puzzling power. On our trip we will explore the archipelago and its monumental treasure - the Moai.

Walking tours take us to the most interesting places of interest on the isle. The first stop is Ahu Tahai, a place from the seventh c. BC, which was renovated in 1967-68 by the archeologist William Mulloy, whose remains lie under a small tombstone in the south part of the group.

There are three cottages on the site, i.e. rock decks carrying seven huge gigantic monumental pinnacles named Moai. In the middle of the first deck is the large single mai without fur, the second mai has a mai with fur and annoying round holes, while the third mai has 5 different moaises.

Then we will head to Ahu Akivi, a large rig that will support seven large caves. This is the only place that faces the ocean instead of the center of the isle, and during the equinox, the seven sculptures face the sundown, which means that the place was perhaps of astronomic importance.
