Shamoan meets Hollywood

Moana's Hollywood debut was not just about presenting Polish tradition, music, dance and music. Some Pacific Islands fashions artists dreamed of showing the rest of the planet - especially Hollywood - how far they've come and how imaginative they can be.

A proud designer is a lady who needs a little intro in Samoa. She' s Cecilia Peterson Keil, from Cecilia' s Vaigaga outfits. Opetaia Foai of Te Vaka wore one of her plays, a jacket, during the première. An eye-catcher, a play that made a designer talk.

"I got an invitation to the Pacific strip in Sydney and from there I saw an opening to get out of Samoa," she said. "I know that there are many very good and highly imaginative design people in Samoa, so why not move on? Returning to Moana and Te Vaka, Cecilia said she was thrilled with the opportunities she was given at the Pacific Runway Fashion Show.

Cecilia' s spouse, Konrad Keil, said all this was because of the exposition they were given in Australia. Conrad said that his wife's work is one of a kind and Moana is the ideal place to do it. She said to Mrs. Keil that her plays were personal. "Each of these icons has a meaning," she said about the work of art on the jacket he wears.

"Every sample recounts a tale about Samoa back then, tales of relatives and family. Mrs. Keil said it took a few nights to finish the jacket. What does she think about Samoan fashions becoming the Hollywood majorstream? What does this mean for your Samoa deal?
