Koror, 10,000 inhabitants, is the biggest city in Palau. Until 2006 Koror was also the capitol, but Melekeok, about 20 km away, now has this honour. Accordingly, recently stores, canteens and other Chinese property (or focused on China) have been built all over Koror city centre. Babeldaob International is situated on the neighbouring island of Babeldaob and guests will reach Koror via the Japan-Palau Friendship Bridge[5], usually by hire vehicle or shuttles.

A number of Koror hire cars will collect you directly from the Aiport. To work around Koror, there are three major methods: Going may be an choice for some, but most large resorts are well situated outside the home shopping/dining area of Koror. There' s a number of shops in Koror to buy old-fashioned Palau storylines, but the most favorite place is the prison, which is selling storylines made (voluntarily) by the inmates.

Prison has by far the widest choice of storylines in Koror, but it can also be the most costly place to buy them. Situated in the centre of Koror, back from the road on the eastern side. The Rock Island Cafe is another non-traditional place with a large choice of storylines.

You will be shown around the eatery, just ask at the bar for price and choice. Several of the bigger resort have a small choice of storylines in their souvenir stores. As a rule, these concealed stores have the cheapest price, but also a small choice. Thousands of bucks can be spent on the biggest story boards in prison, which can be several meters wide and elaborate carvings in the form of an beast.

Please be aware that the Rock Island Cafe is run by Seventh-Day Adventist and therefore closes from Friday 18:00 to Saturday 18:00. In the middle of the central section, directly opposite the prison, it is a favourite restaurant in India. Dining choices and fares are trendy, but the ambience is relaxed, with terrace chairs, and many guests come in very relaxed clothes that match Koror's tropic cuisine.

Situated just south of the central reservation near Neco Marine and the Palau Royal Resort, this is a relaxed waterfront seaside bar & barbecue place with shellfish and other local specialities. Because it is situated next to one of the diving centres, it is very much appreciated by scuba diving and tends to be quite occupied in the afternoons when all the diving vessels return.

The Bottom Time Bar & Grill is off the well-trodden paths at Sam's diving centre. Because of the situation in the diving base it gets too busy and noisy in the afternoons. Featuring a terrace on the outskirts of one of the rocky isles, and most of the weekend there is a good place to enjoy a Friday or Saturdaynight.

Situated on the edge of Koror, you need a taxi that should not throw you back more than $10 to and from Koror or PPR.
