Rangiroa Island French Polynesia

French Polynesia Rangiroa Island

It can form an attractive contrast to the other more frequented islands in French Polynesia. Some of Rangiroa's maps show it as "Nairsa" or "Dean's island". Rungiroa (rung-ee-roh-ah) is one of the largest atolls in the world, with a lagoon so big that it could fit all over the island of Tahiti. Hoa crossing on the Reef Island excursion. Only an hour's flight from the islands of Tahiti and Moorea, lies the fabulous and magical atoll of Rangiroa.

Yangiroa (meaning "big sky" in Tuamotuan) or Te Kok?ta (Hyaden in M?ori), is the biggest tunnel in Tuamotus and one of the biggest in the whole wide globe (although it is smaller than Kwajalein on the Marshall Islands and Huvadhu on the Maldives). Closest to us is Tikehau, 12 km westwards.

About 2,500 inhabitants live in the city of Yangiroa, covering almost 80km². Capital is Avatoru, in the north-west of the Toll. It is made up of about 415 moto islands and sandbanks with a surface area of about 170km². It has a shallow elliptical form with a length of 80 km and a width of 5 to 32 km.

It has a maximal deepness of 35 meters and an area of 1446km². There are only two permanent populated islets at the north end of the canal. In 2007 [update] the overall inhabitant of the Rangiroa tunnel was 2,473. Its most important towns are Avatoru (817 inhabitants), Tiputa (971 inhabitants), Ohutu (546 inhabitants), Taeo'o, Fenuaroa, Otepipi and Tevaro.

Avatoru and Tiputa were both constructed on neighbouring isles, 12th century. They' re divided by the big Tiputa-passport. Another big mountain passport of the Atolls is the Avatoru Passport, just westward of the Isle of Avatoru. The clear waters of the Laguna and the extraordinary variety of sea life make it an important dive site.

2 ] The most favoured dive spots are the Blue Lagoon, the Avatoru Passport, the Tiputa Passport and Les Sables Roses ("the rose sand"). Rangiroa is thought to have been settled around the tenth AD [2] The first registered Europeans to reach Rangiroa were the discoverers Jacob le Maire and Willem Schouten during their 1615-1616 trip to the Poense.

The atolls they call this one" Vlieghen Island". Some of the cards show the town as "Nairsa" or "Dean's island". The Atollo was christened after the Prince of Wales by John Byron, who passed it during his round-the-world trip in 1765. The Charles Wilkes Quest came to this apocalypse on September 7, 1839. In the 1950', Rangiroa's economic activity was fuelled by fisheries and coprah cultivation.

Rangiroa airport's opening in 1965 enabled the tourist sector to develop rapidly, as subsea dive centres and accommodation were constructed. Rangiroa is the chief of Rangiroa, which is made up of two other islands (Tikehau and Mataiva) and a seperate islet ("Makatea").

Growing mussels in the lake can yield small beads. There are plenty of African beads ( "Pinctada margaritifera", the navy grown beads from the African lipstick shell) in the Polynesian atoll. The beads, which have a large selection of naturally coloured, from whites to darks and in all tones of gray, are the only farmed beads in the whole word with as many different naturally coloured as the infamous peacocks.

Originally from Japan, the technology for making grown navy beads is similar in Polynesia, except for a few small detail. Perl is introduced into the beast together with a fabric (coat) made of another one. As transplanted fabric, the pieces of fabric quickly develops and forms a layer of membrane around the beads. Then mother-of-pearl is deposited on the beads.

Only 20 per cent of the round bead is perfect at the time of sowing, about two years after sowing, even with perfect round one. The pearl cultivation is carried out in more than 30 tunnels of Franco Polynesia and is the principal occupation of countless Tuamotu family. At Rangiroa, some Rangiroa ran some 1,000 acres of lagoon waters borrowed from the Tahiti state.

Gauguin's Pearl[3], the largest of the farms, employs more than 50 native laborers, with a major influence on the economics of this 2,000-strong ghetto. On the Rangiroa Alm is a faculty for the cultivation of pearls and a research center for oyster pearls, which make it a kind of pearls center for this indi-vation.

However, it is also mainly destined for the Tahiti Isle. Rangiroa is also known for its worldwide singular vineyard. 4 ] The grapes are growing on the edges of a lake next to coconut trees and producing two crops per year.

Situated in the centre of the Avatoru town. Australian Islands on the high Rurutu and Tubuai, Nuku Hiva (Marquesas Archipelago), Rangiroa (Tuamotu Archipelago), The Plain and Mountain of Tahiti. Rangiroa has been chosen for the following reasons: lack of pests such as phylloxera pests (e.g. grape hylloxera) and its vicinity to Tahiti.

Grape varieties cultivated on the Alm ond have been Carignan, Italia and Black Muscat. Rangiroa, like many others, has no flowing waters. Fresh aquatic lentils formed in the corals usually consists of briny waters due to overpumping, which leads to the penetration of salt wastes. The tourist industry is an important part of the island's economy: every day flights to Tahiti, an extraordinary laguna and good dive site passports are attracting a constant number of people.

Rangiroa has some of the best diving in the whole wide range in and around the Tiputa Pass, which is located at one end of one of the highways. The Avatoru Pass is 5 km away. Sitting porpoises (Tursiops truncatus) are a regular member of the group at the pass. As the stream flows inwards through the Tiputa Pass, about 200 samples of sharks collect at the Tiputa Pass entry at a depth of fifty metres.

The Tiputa Pass in January is home to numerous sting rays and shovelheads. One of the most remarkable places in the area is the renowned Blaue Lagune, a smaller laguna on the south-western outskirts of Rangiroa. The flat surface of the lake emphasizes the brilliant bluish colour of the lake surface.

Pink Sands are sandbanks encircled by many Ro'a, situated in the south-eastern part of Rangiroa. Rangiroa Airport on Avatoru offers flight connections to Tahiti and other destinations in France. There' s also a small street that goes around the isle of Avatoru.
