The Moorea & Bora Bora...The best honeymoon, EVER! - Re-examplary on Tahiti, France Polynesia

In February this year, our 4-day journey began in Moorea (almost ideal in spite of the wet season) and remained at Sofitel Moorea". Kind-hearted personnel, great views of Tahiti, beautiful hiking beaches, quite good snorkeling and good meals - much better than the two places we tried, which were sucking - the Mahogony and Honu Iti (that was unforgettable because they fed the beams coming directly onto the terrace).

It also seemed like a pleasant place, but the waters were not as beautiful as in the Sofitel area. There' s a Bora Bora Bora bloke out there with his 21' Hobie--$200 for 90 mins. This was a real eye-catcher for me, because the waters in BB are amazing, best seen from a sailing boat.

The next stop was Taha'a Private Island Resort, which is not as good as it thinks. This is a nice area with good, flat snorkelling around, but the OWB' s are located in an area where there is only sands. We haven't seen her or anyone for about 15 mins. I said to Louise at that point that we had made a big error and she would call the motel to get the barge to pick us up.

In anger, in French, she left for a good five or ten mins. The next morning, at the famous Taha'a Spas, I bifurcated over $200 for an 80-minute long great but just 70 min. long one. Nearest stations are BB and Sofitel Motu. According to the literature: "Water taxis on request at any time for 5 min drive to the central isle.

Just like 10 min drive, and add waiting until boot come to you, every journey over 30 min or more eats, very disappointing. The personnel was very kind and supportive. The only benefit for Montu was the better snorkelling in the area, but even that was not among the OWB' s, as a canoe was needed to get there.

So we went to the St. Regis, which was a bit stuck-up, but very, very beautiful. Also the meridian seemed to be beautiful, but has just been renovated. Well, at least you can go into the sea with the catfish, but when everyone tramples around, the view quickly becomes minim. Pearl TIkehau is located on a rather isolated, out of the way islet, about 15 min by boot from the city.

The OWB suite was much better suited for snorkelling than the normal one. Nothing much to do here - trip to Bird Iceland was risky - long boating trip to the Isle, then so-so snorkel place where they spearfish your lunches right in front of you (I used to hate this - I came to see these tuna not eating them); then boil them in a fly-contaminated hut; followed by a trip to the China Bead Ranch, where some kind of ritual lives independent with pigs and garden.

Scuba was beautiful, with plenty of sound hardy corals (not much softer, which is more colourful), no top of spines or sea urchin, and plenty of tropics and several mantas. Dive alarm: Only a small vessel will serve a diver, and if it's reserved, you're fucked. Everybody at the retort was kind and supportive, and the meal was quite good, which is a big help, because there are NO option.

Overall, I adored the journey, especially BB.
