Oahu Island 8 Essential Tips for a Visit

In the 1980s, my mum and dad had fell in love with the Oahu Islands for their honeymoon and swore that one day they would move there and start a home, which they would do. When we left our home in Kailua 14 years ago, my mom and I had the opportunity to return to Oahu this year and explore our old favorite places along the Windward and North Shore coasts and explore new places to eat and the night life in Honolulu and Waikiki, as I was now old enough to be there.

There will always be a place in my life for the Hawaiian people, and while you are about to plan your own adventurous journey, I want you to help me make the most astonishing journey. These are my best advice for your visit to Oahu, Hawaii's Gathering Place, whether it's your first journey or you're a vet.

You should always look for Hawaiian Airlines flights first, especially if you are travelling from the West Coastline or from JFK in New York. While some of the island's best sights are outside the major tourism zones of Waikiki Beach and Honolulu, they are still definitely deserving of a visit.

One of Hawaii's major bus forms of general transport, offering a variety of choices for as low as $2. 50 a trip with two free rides or you could even hops that last anywhere from 2. 5 to 4. 5 hrs depending on where you are onboard on one of the Circle Island Tours.

The other possibility, of course, is to hire a vehicle and explore the islands at your own speed. From Waikiki to Waimanalo along the Kalanianaole (pronounced "ka-la-nee-ah-nah-nah-oh-lee") motorway on the weather shore, where you have Koko Head, a resting but stunning looking vulcano on one side, and crisp rocks that lead into the blueest oceans you have ever seen.

Do you like Jurassic Park, George of the Jungle or Louis? Don't miss the Hollywood's Hawaiiacklot tour at Kualoa Ranch, where you can take a 90-minute drive through the Ka'a'wa Valley on a classic car schoolbus and Godzilla's foot prints, Hurley's course by Los Angeles, and a stupid picture with the overturned trees from the notorious Jurassic Park rugby raptor-chase area.

The Kualoa Ranch also has a range of excursions and excursions - my favourite is the excursion to Secret Island, where you can relax on the beaches, enjoy a game of volley ball or go on a kayak in Kaneohe Bay. 5-hour program (each above route begins at $35 for an adult, $25 for a child aged 3-12).

Snorkelling in Hanauma Bay, a conservation area on the south-east shore of Oahu, where you can rent snorkelling equipment and seafood to make the animal kingdom an unforgettable experience. Cards begin at $7. 50 per ticket, free for kids under 3 and happy birthday and it cost $1 to use.

Attend Oahu's North Shore and stay one night at the Polynesian cultural center, where natives from Samoa, Tahiti, Tonga, Fiji, Hawaii, Rapa Nui (Easter Island), Aotearoa (New Zealand) and other isles present their culture, dance, food, dance, musical and other tradition (tickets begin at $59.95 for grown-ups, $47.96 for children from 5-11 years).

If you want a true tidbit, choose the Ali'i Luau package, which includes daily entrance, Ali'i Luau entrance and evening show and great places in Ha: The Breath of Life, an amazing show and the ideal way to end your days in paradise (from $99.95 for grown-ups, from $79.96 for 5-11 year olds).

When you dare to see the attractions of Oahu's North Shore, make sure you stop by Giovanni's Kahuku city layman crawling truck - her crawfish are still something I think about, even though it's been 14 years since we have been moving. North Shore is also home to Oahu's iconic flake egg, Matsumoto Shave lce, in the historical city of Haleiwa.

They are known throughout the entire country for having a uniquely varied flavours such as mandarin, verdant teas and creamsicles, so make a wise choice. The Waikiki offers family-friendly sandy beach and a great nightscape. Sleep in the heart of the city at The Shoreline Hotel Waikiki, just a few steps from Waikiki Beach, near the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Centre (a Joie de Vivre Motel, prices start at $170 per room per day in January).

To enjoy this spectacular Diamond Head panorama, you' ll spend the day at Shore Waikiki Park, a wonderful beach resort just a few paces from Waikiki Beach and next to Kapiolani Park, home of Honolulu Zoo (prices start at $153 per nights thanks to the Rock A Shaka Special).
