It was the Luau of Oahu, after all, who played a major role in the first conversation presented to the first guests of the first Waikiki hotel in the early 1900s.

Luau traditions were transmitted from the hosting cultures of Hawaii to the island guests in rituals that forever made the luau the quintessence of its activities. Since then, the first Oahu Lauaus have been broadcast out to the neighboring Isles, but the primal origins of the Luau festivals that Hawaiians enjoy are deeply rooted in the 20th cent.

I' m showing this tape about Luaus on Oahu. So you probably all know what a Luau is, a massive Hwaiian festival we usually have on the shore or near sundown. Their gigantic banquet, all your tradional Hwaiian dishes and they are cooking a pork in the inu under the sands and so you have this gigantic amount of meal, you have all the pageant and so on of dancing and chanting and chanting from different civilizations, not only from Hawaii but usually also from the South Pacific, and then you have coctails and it's just a good season that everyone come together and enjoy this quintessence of Hwaiian extra vaganza.

Well, there's Luaus on all the isles. How is the Luaus on Oahu different? First of all, this is the first place we ever had Luaus commercially in Hawaii. Luaus' traditions are very long, we have many Luaus who have been here for many years, a great deal of story and many folks go to these Luaus, they went to them when they were children and now they come back and they go to the same Luaus and take their children with them.

So there is a great custom with regard to the ancient times of some of these luauses that exist. And the other thing that makes things really different is that they're big luau. You won't find Luaus near the size we have on Oahu on the other isles, and that makes for a slightly different feeling for the Luaus.

You are with a large group of folks who enjoy these Luaus together and it has a different feeling than the outside isles we have with the smaller Luaus you are going to find and the other thing that is different about the Luaus here, I think, is that they are spread across the isle and you can really be collected at your motel and to Luaus and most other places on the other isles, you have to be there.

Of course, in many cases you can go to these Luaus, but only the scenery of Oahu, that they meet you at your Waikiki hotelier and then take you there by coach, or they will take you to Luau and then take you back, which is a good thing if you want a few drinks anyway.

They' re, as I said, all over the isle. We' ve got some that are directly in Honolulu or in Waikiki, so you can go directly to some of the Luaus or take a taxi, this kind of things if you visit one directly in Waikiki, but others that we have on this coast in Ko Olina and in the south, we have Luaus.

You can also find Luaus over in the Waimanalo area, over on the east coast and also up in the Polynesian Cultural Centre. So they are all over the place and this is an experiance when you come to Oahu and you are going to be there for whatever bout of times, you should take one of your few day and do a Luaus, especially if you haven't done it before.

It is the epitome of the Hwaiian festival, that's what Hawaii is known for and it's a great way to enjoy one of your afternoons. You' ll certainly have supper there anyway, sometime, and you might as well have a meal in a luau. Of all the different types of action in Hawaii, the Luau is certainly the most active of all!

So the luau in Hawaii can really only be found in Hawaii and this is the reason why the Hawaii luau faction has created itself in the heart of those who come to Hawaii as the most important happening in Hawaii. The Kauai luau is basically a huge festival that involves a lot of happy ha-waiian entertainments like the tiki dance and a significant socialisation in the traditions of the "aloha spirit".

And Hawaii is the only place where you can visit truly genuine Hwaiian luauses. The Maui is known for having some of the best luauses in the state of Hawaii. Hawaii's Great Island provides services to the city of Kailua-Kona and the Waikaloa area. There''s no place in the world where you can really visit an authentically Hawaii-Luau outside the state of Hawaii and the great island of Hawaii provides you with a marvellous diversity for your pleasure.
