Last year, more than 1,180 expert meetings were held for the inhabitants of Chatham Island.

The visit was co-ordinated with an ACC visit crew who work in close co-operation with the personnel for work and physiotherapy and share the costs for this work. Sally Lanauze, Chatham Island's Clinical Nurse Manager, says they have been able to meet some of the remote challenge by making full use of an entire systems paradigm.

Orthopaedics travelled to the Chatham Islands in September last year and again in May this year. On the second appointment, a number of former surgical outpatients were seen and released.

Fifty-five people were seen and six smaller operations were carried out during the two-day May hospital. According to the evaluation, 24 orthopaedic treatment and 31 orthopaedic treatment candidates were dismissed. There were new agreements with a podologist and a physical therapist on the Isle and the agreement with the lead motherhood supervisor was extended. In February the dentistry was provided by a privately owned doctor, this was the second hospital and also here the treatment was fully charged for 14 workdays.

Sixty three of the 112 qualifying Chatham Island females took part in BreastScreen South's biannual BreastScreen South Chatham Island Clinic.
