Guam is the most southern of the Mariana Mountains and the biggest (and most populous) of Micronesia. United States territory, the isle itself is only 30 nautical mile long (48km) and 4 to 12 nautical mile ((6-19km). However, with its broad choice of beaches and extraordinary sea life, Guam is home to some of the most majestic snorkelling in the western Pacific.

Guam's primary sanctuary, full of hotel accommodation, seaview dining and seaside pubs, is undoubtedly the liveliest snorkelling site on the Isle. However, for those looking to discover more remote cliffs, the islands offer a dozen other snorkelling areas for all tastes. Some of the most visited places in the area are Gun and FaiFai beaches (just 5 minutes by car from Tumon Bay), Ypao beaches (at the south end of Tumon Bay, one of Guam's five sea reserves), GabGab beaches, Haputo beaches, Piti Bomb Holes and Cabras islands (but you generally need a ferry to get to this last place).

Hispanic Steps, a flat bay at the top of the Orote Peninsula is also one of the best coves. While most snorkelling sites are free and easily accessible, note that some of them (Haputo, Hispanic Steps ) are on US facilities and have restricted accessibility.

There are many snorkelling sites that can be accessed from the shoreline, surrounded by small fringe riffs that end in a precipice overlooking the open toast. Guam has a rich variety of maritime environments for such a small islet. There are over 1,000 different types of fish and 375 types of coral, among them giant coral fish, mantas, scalars, tortoises and the very few anemone fish (Amphiprion tricinctus) that are found in Guam and the Marshall Islands.

Guam's year round weather is pure tropics, warm and moist, but we can differentiate between two distinct periods. Taifunen, which bring from the middle of May to the middle of November rains and heavy wind, are defeated the isle. The best snorkelling is from February to April, during the dryest months and outside the Taifun area.
