Which Hawaiian Island

. Big Island has the best snorkelling, but you really can't do without a vehicle. But snorkelling is bad there in this area. You' re very limited without a vehicle.... but in the Ka'anapali/Lahaina area of Maui you' re doing well.

They can organize trips to other parts of the island. Take a good card of Maui (very important) and a guide or two. You can also join the ISLAND of Maui Forum and enjoy reading a little. Southmaui, especially Kihei is a good place to remain if you don't have a vehicle.

Snorkelling, dining and shopping within easy walk. The Oahu has a beautiful local transport system, but as Shea says, snorkelling is restricted in the overwinters. Whalewatching on Maui in February is the best of all islands. Between Lahaina and Lana'i Island, the Au'au Canal is the most densely inhabited canal.

Now, we remain in South Kihei on Maui, near the boundary to (more expensive) Wailea. My favourite'ends' of Maui are South Kihei/Wailea in South Maui and Napili/Kapalua in West Maui (but not so far in the northern winter). Are you flying to and from Hawaii? Sometimes we flew in and out of HNL, but we never got out of the airfield to fly to OGG on Maui and do the same for a homeward journey from HNL.

I' d go snorkelling and whale watching in Maui, but Honolulu is the only place where you can *easily* walk, take a coach or a cab. Is nine too many a day on Ka'anapali? Shall we spend a few nights on Ka'anapali and then a few nights in another area like Kihei or is it pointless?

Have a look at the stay at North Ka'anapali Beach, where you can go snorkelling at Kahekili, better than at Black Rock, but you will be near enough to do both. Here we always listen to whalesong snorkelling in winters! Maui Ka'anapali Villas, Eldorado, Westin Villas, Honua Kai. Situated to the north of Black Rock, the resort will be more crowded, nearer to more activity and shops.

I' d rather go northerly, but both are good.
