What's the Weather in Guam

There are five things to know about the weather in Guam

The first time I heard that I was going to Guam, I was excited to move to the Pacific Tropics. Located so far southward and far below the Tropic of Cancer, Guam, like most of the area, cannot have the same four years.

Rather than watching the winters, springs, summers and autumn, the area is watching the skilfully designated "Wet Season" and "Dry Season". Droughts last from January to June, the rainy period from July to December. I' m not saying this is a grievance about Guam.

I' m just admitting that the rains threw me out here. Darker, grey clouds signified that it was raining; clearer, bluer heavens signified that the star was outside to soak. But I have noticed that I can run around under a storm cloudy darkness and don't sense a drizzle of precipitation, but somehow get soaked by the only cloudy spot that hangs in the air.

Initially I thought that the weather was more or less fixed whether I was inside or outside, but now I am confident that the weather can be more readily forecast by tossing a token and then I assume that I will get damp, regardless of how I am preparing myself (unless, of course, I am preparing myself, in which case it will certainly be a sunny day).

I' m no specialist on the tropics. However, I think the word "dry season" could be a little inaccurate. Guam, for example, had slightly more than 32-inch rainfall during the 2012 drought, while Austin, Texas (whose rainy period is the first half of the year) had only about 20-inch rainfall (Warning: PDF).

Admittedly, I can't say much about the drought until it reappears, but I'm looking forward to the cold'70s when the temperature falls and the air moisture falls below the level "am I on foot or just swimming".
