Lanai's Four Seasons Manele Bay escape bushfire

It was creepy for a while on the mostly tranquil Lanai for a while last night. Heavy wind quickly stoked the fire over the arid, sparse countryside of the islands and the Manele Bay Road. On the way of the fire stood the Four Seasons resort Lanai in Manele Bay. Fire was raging about a mile from the retreat when some 600 people and employees were evicted on a boat in the nearby Manele Bay Harbor.

Brush fire never threatens the island's primary residence, Lanai City, or its other Four Seasons estate, the Lodge in Koele. The Four Seasons Manele Bay said the emergency was a precaution. "The good part is that everyone is back to safety and things are going as usual," said Michelle Edwards, PR Director of Four Seasons Resorts Lanai.

There' been no injury or structure failure on Lanai. But firefighters encourage them to be careful when they travel around the isle.
