Just two hrs by boat from the Rafina harbour (18 km from Athens International Airport), Andros is the second biggest of the Cyclades Isles (after Naxos) and also one of the greens, albeit least touristic. Batsi, a seafront town eight kilometres from Gavrio, the principal harbour, is the only place with some amenities for holidaymakers (hotels and a little nightlife), but the remainder of the isle has stayed exactly as its people like it: quiet, untouched and beauty.

Andros' cliffy coast is littered with wonderful sandy areas (some are more accessible than others), while small historic towns lie on green slopes upcountry. Andros is not recommended as a tourist resort, if you are looking for a packet of white-washed towns, organized sandy beach and night life (there are many other Grecian isles where you can find it), but if you appreciate nature's beauties, peace and authencity and if you like driving around (you need a car), hiking, discovering rugged shores and dining in some kind of tradition, you will find Andros the right isle.
