Cauai Hawaii's Garden Island

Hawaii's Garden Island, the 4th biggest of the Hawaii islands and 25 minutes flying time from Oahu, has always been a little different from the others. Kauai's 552 sq. m. are set in an almost perfectly circular location, with Mount Waiale in the centre and the highest point and the resort and residences dotted along the shores and lower uplands.

Kauai, the oldest of the large isles, does not have the many climates on the Maui and Big Island and also does not have the night life, shows and pubs like Oahu. The Kauai is the ideal place to enjoy walking paths, aquatic activities and peaceful, relaxing night.

Ahupua' a traditionally defines the island areas, requiring counties to incorporate highlands, midlands and coastlines. The five counties of Kauai are divided like a cake and have been named Kawaihau, Koloa, Lihue, Kapaa and Waimea. Koloa is the most beloved area, with the biggest selection of high-end resort properties along Poipu Beach.

The Kauai has always been a little different from the isles. Desperate to capture all the isles, King Kamehameha the Great and his soldiers successfully conquered Kahekili of Maui in the I'ao valley, then conquered Kalanikupule in the Nu'uanu valley, but when it was the turn to take Kauai, Chief Kaumualii gave in by an arrangement that Kamehamehaa would not have full command of the then sovereign empire until Kaumualii passed away in 1824.

Today, Kauai is the only island that has not brought mongooses to the Hawaii islands to exterminate the mongooses, it has the only navalable stream in the Hawaii Islands, it is home to the biggest coffeeplantation in the United States and it is home to the Mystic Menehune.

Legend has it that they built the Alekoko fish ponds in Lihue and the Menehune Trench in Waimea, both of which are regarded as astonishing achievements in old Hawaii. Small, concise and easy to use in terms of design and style. Anyone who loves rain forests and mild evenings will fell in loving Hawaii's Garden Island.
