Against the windward side of Ohau? - Oahu forum

Against the windward side of Ohau? Windward Area is the area from Kahuku Point to Makapuuu Point and is bordered by the Koolau Mountains to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. The Windward Oahu can be split into two parts. From Kahuku Point to Kualoa Point, the northern portion gets our voice for Oahu's most dramatic shore.

Further away from the hills, the coastline from KailuaBay to Makapuuu Point is more reliably sunshiny. Kailua, about half an hour's car ride from Honolulu on the Pali Highway (State 61), attracts sailors from all over the globe for its large protected cove, dependable offshore wind and sand bottom and waters.

This seems to be the best Leeward coastal term. Several of the locations cover the Ewa section with Kapolei as part of the Leeward coastline, others not. "Leeward shores, that part of the western bank bordered by the Wai'anae chain and the ocean" "Leeward shores, that part of the western bank bordered by the Wai'anae chain and the sea, are less affected by developments.

As with the rustic Oahu Wind Ward, the western coastline is mainly inhabited by Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders. In recent years, the Ewa Plain just east of Pearl Harbor was designed as Kapolei - Oahu's "Second City" to reduce the pressure on the city. I' ve never seen Honolulu and most of the southern bank of the river as windwards or leewardslistet.

I' ve never seen the north coast list as windwards or downwind. As I may be false, most poeple consider Oahu as northern shore, southern shore, upwind & lee side.
