U.S. bans Haiti, Belize and Samoa from temporary visas | News

On Wednesday, the Department of Homeland Security stated that Belize, Haiti and Samoa are no longer considered for work visa. It will be released by the Federal Register on Thursday, exactly one weeks after US President Donald Trump described the Africa and Haiti as "shithole" states during an oval office meetings on migration-reforms.

In the course of the summit, where the US presidency debated the standing of some 800,000 immigrant workers who had profited from the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals programme, known as Defense Agency, by protecting them from deportations ended by his government, Trump had been reported to ask why the US must accept migrants from" shithole" nations, rather than from jurisdictions such as Norway, which triggered criticisms from legislators and socio-economic players who got a grip on Trump's racialism and general migration policy.

H-2A and H-2B visa for agricultural and other sectors are available to people from 80 states. Since 2012, Haiti had been on the shortlist following a succesful advocacy drive by humanitary groups and both Republic and democracy legislators to qualify Haiti for short-term work permits that could help Haitians recuperate from the 2010 devastating quake.

For Belize, the announcement quotes concern over the traffic in humans and for Samoa it alleges that the Samoan authorities will not co-operate if they withdraw their citizens once they have been ordered to flee the US. DHS's justification for excluding Haitians from the visa does not withstand. Reuters says a 2016 DHS survey states that only 65 Haitians with H-2A visa arrived in the United States for farming work and an amount "too low to cover H-2B visa for non-agricultural work in 2016".

It is not the first Trump administrative migration action affecting Haitians. DHS in November 2017 declared its intention to end Haiti under former President Barack Obama on January 21, 2010 as an immediate reaction to the January 12quake.

This action permitted 59,000 Haitians to remain in the US lawfully, but it will end this Monday, threatening many of them.
