Situated in Howe Sound behind Woolridge Island (smaller island between Sunshine Coast and Gambier Island). The Gambier Island is a walking, cycling, camping, kayak and boat trip with many coves for moorings, camping and walk. On the lower side of the Sunshine Coast are the nearest townships of Port Mellon and Gibsons, BC.

The service on Gambier Island is housed in a small general store, which offers many of the most important conveniences for a longer sojourn. To Gambier Island, just off Bowen Island, you can take a private yacht, canoe, sea taxis or the Dogwood Princess with you. The trip to Gambier is only 30 min. away by motorboat.

Through the Thornborough Channel the Port Mellon is mostly sheltered water away from the strong wind (mostly). New Brighton Ferries land in Thornbrough Bay, on the western side of the island. Gambé Island, and the journey to, has many ways to see the birdlife, coastline hills, seal and sea activities of hard-working tugs shoving and hauling logs.

The trip starts at Port Mellon and heads to the northern side of Gambier, Douglas Bay and Brigade Bay, both of which have walk-in wildlife sites. Further along the coast of Gambier there are also camping sites in Halkett Bay Provincial Park and West Bay. Since Gambier Island is located in the middle of other small island and isles, many boat men and kayaker like to go on daily excursions from their Gambier camps.

Excursions to Anvil Island, just off Gambier and Christie Islet and Pam Rock are favourite places to visit. Gibson Harbour and Port Mellon to Gambier Island and back are 40 km. The journey in a motorboat should take 30 min. according to prevailing meteorological situation.
