Auckland to NLK non-stop service from 14 January - Norfolk Island Forum

After AirNZ moved back from Auckland to Norfolk, I think everyone was thrilled that a substitute was quickly found in Norfolk Island Airlines to fly from Auckland to Norfolk and back once a week. AirNZ was the first airline to do so. In the Norfolk Islander last weekend I was reading that the services should be terminated to be completely sure that I had approached Norfolk Island Airlines directly if there was a way to overturn the ruling.

"Unfortunately, Norfolk Island Airlines unfortunately stated a few months ago that for business purposes the company will discontinue its air services from Norfolk Island to Auckland from 14 January 2018. As well as 25 November and 16 December, NORFOLK/AUCKLAND/NORFOLK were canceled.

" That' a real shame for New Zealand people. Northfolk was such a beautiful place with appropriate temperature in midsummer when the Australian continent is too warm for many. Maybe the most important thing was the closeness to Auckland - less than 2 h. And I don't know how many of them will be willing to go to Norfolk via Brisbane or Sydney.

Sadly, since the Aboriginal authorities removed self-government on Norfolk Island, they have declined to allocate funds to this area. They have made this a municipal governance role in Norfolk Island. Norfolk Island Canada can't really buy real money for selling, so the New Zealand no longer exists. With the abolition of self-government two years ago, the number of visitors from New Zealand on Air NZ services has fallen from 70% to 54%.

Air NZ took the trip after 67 years of flights to Norfolk Island. The loss of the recent Auckland mission will further damage Norfolk's frangible economies and cause concern to local residents and business. And Norfolk Island has always been part of Australia, just like Lord Howe Island. Maybe, but on the menu it looks like NI Auckland is a little nearer than Brisbane.

I think the weather in Auckland is more like NI than Brisbane, so maybe the NIers do. The Commonwealth has given this a state and federation role to the minute Norfolk Island Councils. Both the NZers and the Norfolk inhabitants will surely miss the non-stop flight from Auckland to Norfolk.

About a third of the inhabitants of Norfolk NZers had long term (I don't know if it is still the case) and had close friends. AirNZ has been flying twice a week from Auckland to Norfolk for a long period of me, which I often took the opportunity to take part in.

A lot of them used the flight for a week-end excursion (in both directions). And it was also great in the summers, when it was too warm for many Australians. A further factor in the decline in travellers to Norfolk was the increase in competitive conditions on other Trans-Tasman services (at least in my opinion), which led to significantly lower fares to Australia.

Norfolk will see many New Zealand tourists, I very much question, as there are no more non-stop connections. The journey via Sydney or Brisbane is very complicated and much more costly. In my view, a drama, as it was a beautiful place that could be easily reached from Auckland.
