A favourite destination for Western Australians, Dunsborough has tranquil, sand bays, stunning natural reserves, a great commercial district and is close to the vineyards and tourist sites of the Margaret River area. Besides cafes, shops, bakeries as well as the city' s own restaurant, the city also has some of the best shops for household goods and fashions, while the near Cape Naturaliste is one of the best in the southwest.

Located in a region of cultural importance in the southwest for the Aborigines' ancient guardians, Dunsborough is one of the oldest continuously populated areas in the word, with a heritage going back some 40,000 years. You' ll see many place nicknames around Dunsborough that end with the sound'up'.

Join a native Yallingup or Cape Naturaliste native aborigine leader to learn more about the area' s past and present. Journey to Cape Naturaliste Beacon and Maritime Museum just 13 km outside the city. Here you can visit the light house and enjoy the breathtaking view of the coastline.

A number of hiking paths are available, among them the Cape to Cape Walks, which starts along the coastline and leads to Cape Leeuwin near Augusta. This trail offers an outstanding view of the wild flowers in the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park, where some of the rarest plants such as the Naturaliste Nancy, Dunsborough Spider Orchid, Cape Spider Orchid and Meelup Mallee live.

The Cape Naturaliste is the ideal viewpoint to watch cetaceans on their yearly hike. From September to December, humpbacks and bluewhales are frequently seen off the coastline. Explore the magical world of Geographe Bay from Cape Naturaliste's specially constructed observation deck for wildlife or from a boat-trip.

Situated in the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park, it is an imposing formations that dominate the coast and is very much loved by filmers. Locate your own remote cove - you'll find your breathing in the gorgeous blue water of Meelup and Eagle Bays and Bunker Bays and all the small bays in between.

The Meelup Bay is part of the Meelup Regional Park, which provides many hiking paths for the active tourist who likes to watch wild flowers or birds. Go on a trip to get closer to the migratory moguls. From September to December, excursion vessels sail almost every day in their quest for the bumpback right-waleen, the south right waleen and the scarce orca.

Scuba dip the HMAS Schwan, which was closed down in 1996 and is located in Meelup Beach. Because of the Geographe Bay's conservation status, the site can be viewed almost 10-month a year.
