Places to go in North Island
Excursions on the North IslandA number of regional descriptions are used by national governments. Probably most pertinent is that, on the basis of a mandate from the Ministry of Travel, New Zealand produces tourist data for these North Island regions[5]: Hawke's Bay-Gisborne, Taranaki-Wanganui-Manawatu, Wellington. - ( WT-en ) Huttite 19:42, 18 October 2009 (EDT): I think these areas are generally fine, my only big thing is to get away from the area and share it.
Taupo Lake and Tongariro/Ruapehu are quite important tourism attractions that I remember when I was living there, and they have more in common in geographical terms (reasons why travellers would go there) than the Bay of Plenty and the other areas of the suggested Western North Island.
It would be preferable to keep them in a certain area and perhaps change their name to Taupo-Tongariro Lake or Taupo-Ruapehu Lake, a smaller problem is the name "Eastern North Island". Hawke's Bay is another frequent travel spot, so I would rather give it the same meaning on behalf of the area, as we use locals everywhere else.
Based on the Huttite suggested areas, I would rather see the following (I have also involved sub-regions to give more definitions): Northland Encourage the sub-sub-regions on one plane so that they are directly linked to Northland (I don't think there are enough sub-regions to justify two levels). The Auckland Region The Auckland Super City.
The way it is organised needs to be clarified, but this can be reviewed on the Talk page Waikato-Coromandel (note that the name of the area is different so we don't end up with a Waikato sub-region under a Waikato major area). These are the suggested regions: Itemized a regional chart centered on the 11 regional areas shown on the articles page.
It is generally located on the borders of the gov't area with few exceptions: There is no official Central North Island, so I have drawn it to cover Lake Taupo, Tongariro NP and all surrounding streets. Taumarunui seems to be located in the Wanganui-Manawatu area. Waikato with Te Kuiti and the remainder of the royal state.
