A number of them are asking whether there is enough cash in the programme for the remainder of the 2018 financial year. More worryingly, they say, the government may be blocking financing. DHSS' total 2018 budgeted amount is $21.87 million, with the ASNAP programme providing $7.58 million, including $6.25 million for ASNAP food vouchers that will be distributed to 2018 beneficiaries according to the ASG 2018 budgeting paper.

A few years ago, the food stamping programme was one of several programmes financed by the Confederation which were described by the Swiss authorities as "high risk". The name ASNAP, however, was removed during the Togiola administration after measures were taken to guarantee correct bookkeeping and adherence to the programme. Concern over the implication of ASNAP financing also emerged in the Senate this weeks and will be the topic of a Senate Human Rights and Social Services Committee hearings next Monday.
