Na 1937 Dole Map of the Hawaiian Islands U.S.A....

It is a rather appealing, ornamental map of the Hawaiian Islands, made by Parker Edwards for the Hawaiian Pineapple Company in the 1930'. The map shows a wonderful mix of Hawaiian islands arts, mapping, advertising, travel and the outdoors. It was conceived as "a description of the Hawaiian territory's historical, traffic, industrial and geographic history", as best described in the subtitle of this map.

Representations of different races, outdoor life, geographic sights, primitive towns and of course pineapple fill and encircle each isle. At the lower lefthand part of the map a map shows the northern top lefthand side and the location of the Hawaii Islands in the middle Pazific Ocean, with distance from Australia, Northern America and Asia.

Hawaiian pineapple company was established in 1901 by James Dole, who opened his first apple orchard on the Hawaiian Isle of Oahu's mainland. Hawaii's annexation to the United States made the sale of farm produce on the continent much more lucrative, as it would never be liable to the tariff.

The Hawaiian Pinepple Company was instrumental in delivering 80% of the world's tinned pineapples production at its peak.
