Chile's ambassador welcomes His Highness Tuimaleali'ifano Va'aletoa Sualauvi II has received Chile's new ambassador to Samoa, Rodrigo Espinosa Marty. Mr Marty presented the Creed to the President of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, on Thursday, who recognized him as his country's Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Samoa. It was presented at the Head of State's Office in Moto'otua.

Her Highness Tuimaleali'ifano was escorted during the encounter by Masiofo, Her Highness Fa'amausili Leinafo. This new ambassador wants to reinforce the ties of friendliness between Samoa and Chile. Polynesia's link between Samoa and Rapa Nui is only a point of departure for many of our countries' convergence, which we can hopefully further develop in the coming years," he said.

And the Ambassador also stressed today's shared challenge. His Highness Tuimaleali'ifano, head of state, greeted the new ambassador to Samoa and voiced Samoa's profound wish to reinforce the ties of friendship with Chile.

A new Samoa J.I.C.A. volunteer

The New Japan International Cooperation Agency( J.I.C.A.), Takahiro Kojima, science instructor at Manono-Uta Primary School and Misaki Sasajima, physiotherapist of the Loto Taumafai Society, have arrived in Samoa. Being in their early 20s, they decided to work abroad - in a strange land, where they were eventually sent to Samoa for two years.

Both are looking forward to learn the Samoan as this will help them to interact with the locals. You will also be able to see a Samoan couple on the east coast and see what they do. In April 2018, 2,584 J.I.C.A. Volunteers were sent to 77 nations around the globe.

Of these, 2,192 are J.O.C.V. or Japan Overseas Corporation voluntaries between the ages of 20 and 39. Other 392 are seniorunteers between the ages of 40 and 69. Teamwork with Samoa through the J.I.C.A. Samoa Office's Japan Engineering Co-operation Programme, which has been a friendship with Samoa since its inception in 1972.
