Rio de Janeiro fascinates all over the while. Responsible for the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games, the new impetus for construction and investment is being felt, transforming the face of the town and making it, albeit somewhat hesitantly, a world center for more than just travel.

But what will never be changed is the joyful creativeness that has contributed to making Rio's countryside into touristic attraction, its inhabitants into native entertainment stars and its football players into the best in the game. With a worsening safety record since the 2016 Olympic Games, it is important that visitors who want to visit the slopes of the country's favourites travel only with a clear destination and a locally based guidebook.

Whenever you are in the town, it is recommended that you stay vigilant and do not use the telephone on the streets, do not wear jewelry or take a full purse with you: only wear what is strictly necessary.
