The Trillium Hut

There is also a barbeque for our customers; you can either take your own meats and lettuces or buy meats and green lettuce in the shop. One Saturday at the Stonewall Shop there is a small shop selling a range of products cultivated in the area. It is run by offspring of the native pioneer Medland and is a place where you can unwind after a full day's excursion and enjoy what the island has to boast.

One of the highlights of the island are the many nature trails through scrub and DOC. At night you take a trip to a nearby eatery less than 10 min by car.

Sea-Villas

From Tryphena Wharf or Claris Airfield we can organize a pick up for you when you are arriving or departing from Great Barrier Island. Also we can help our clients to organize their island transportation before arriving. The barrier has no means of transportation, but travel agencies can take you to and from nearby tourist sites and acitivities such as hiking trails, beach, etc.

Car hire is available to help you discover the island at your own speed. It is not necessary to use your own car to circumnavigate the island or get to Sunset Waterfront Lodge. We' ll return to see them while visiting the island three or four days a year to relax, and after we've stayed here, you'll certainly think twice about making reservations elsewhere.

I had such a nice time at Sunset Waterfront Lodge. The Great Barrier Island has such a stunning, unspoilt landscape in New Zealand, it's a great place to "get away from it all" for a few nights and Sunset Waterfront Lodge is the ideal place to spend the night and savour the indigenous beauties. The Sunset Lodge is an excellent place.

Afterwards we stayed a few nights in a mansion with our two kids. The Chubby & Brain are great hosts, very happy, supportive and nothing is too much hassle - (even offer to take us to & from the restaurants on Saturday evening). Large room, spectacular view of the grass, through the Pohutakawas and out to breathtaking Tryphena Bay.

It' where you want to be on the barrier. Both Gloria and Brain were marvelous entertainers..... professionally, kindly and passionately about their lovely place. You can also hire a vehicle to discover the remainder of the island. It' just a little memo to thank you for a lovely getaway with you.
