Chatham's population and related information and service (weather, Wikipedia, Google, images). The population and borders shown are determined by the production areas that will be allocated to the developed areas in 2011. There are often some unassembled parts in the area. The tabular area data refers, however, to (typically smaller) actually cultivated areas in order to represent a more real population densit.

A few of the 2001 numbers are indicative. Other populations:

In contrast to the other geographic units listed on this website, neighbourhoods are not recognised by the U.S. CB. In order to get around this, we have calculated sensible estimations of the same stats that are shown for other collateral entities. Every statistical measure is calculated as the weighed total or the mean of the areas or groups of blocks overlapping the neighbourhood.

For censuses of persons or budgets, a weighed amount is used, and a weighed amount is used for statistical purposes, which are themselves a kind of mean, such as the averages. Population catchment groups are given preference if the relevant stats are available at cluster unit levels. Weights for a particular wing (or a group of blocks) are calculated as the population of counting blocs that intersect the wing and the neighbourhood as a small part of the population.

Chatham compares these easy graphics to domestic trends: We' re going to let you look at the entire population in two ways. First, population density: which areas had the most population? The densities are computed as the number of humans per ha and we have surveyed the areas on a state-of-the-art electronic mapping of your locality rather than depending on the dubious areas in historic records.

Second, the rate of growth: where has the population increased or decreased the most? Since 1851, the survey has provided very accurate figures on the ageing of the population, indicating the number of men and women in each 5-year-old group. In the last 150 years our population has grown considerably older. The decrease in death rate in the latter part of the nineteenth centuries was mainly due to the decrease in the very high rate of baby mortality: the existence or lack of a large number of babies who died before their first birth anniversary had little effect on the entire population.

In the course of the 20th centur y, the structure of ageing altered considerably due to decreasing fruitfulness and an improvement in longevity in later years. For Chatham we have these detailled stats, which we present graphically and tabularly here: Find out more about how we keep our stats here.
