Starbucks to help remodel the Byron site

Friday, April 26, a group of students came to the Old Coulsdon-based campus and worked all over the area. It was part of a fellowship event with Oasis' long-time Starbucks team. In the daytime, Starbucks and Oasis volunteer crews built a "sensory garden", built pasture fences around the property, and even opened an "insect hotel" to encourage coveted bugs to stay near the flowerbeds.

It was part of a broader Starbucks relationship that included a deferred program where coffeebuyers could buy an additional cup of coffe and donate to an Oasis fundraising program.

Yeah, this is where they' re going from Byron. Somebody really needs to open a genuine stand-alone coffeeshop in this town. But Byron hasn't had an independant café in years. In the recent Tim Horton dispute and the minimal salary, I heard over and over again that folks say they should be supporting their own locally owned and operated coffeeshop, but there is nothing similar to what the folks can be supporting in Byron or the surrounding suburbs.
