Suva, the Fiji capitol, is also the country's biggest town. Souva is located on the south-east side of Viti Levu, Fiji's biggest island. It is the centrepiece of Fiji's economic and policy. Fiji Museum (fijimuseum.org.fj), 30 minutes by car from the centre of Suva, is located next to the Botanical Garden.
Established in 1904, the oldest in the South Pacific, the artefacts collection spans more than three-thousand years. This large collection shows ongoing and changing archaeological finds from Fiji and the South Pacific, among them a historical and masian art galleries, an Indian Fiji art galleries and a souvenir show.
There are talks and specific events for kids. Municipal Handicraft Centre, in the centre of Suva, is a curvy road full of typical handicrafts and folklore. The Handicrafts Centre has both old-fashioned stores and markets, and is a key place for people to buy handcrafted goods such as Indo-Fijian weaving racks and works of wares.
The Thurston Gardens (Cakobau Rd. at Queen) is a botanic gardens next to the Fiji Museum. This quiet community gardens is home to a wide range of plant life that includes lily, gingerbread, palm trees and other indigenous South Pacific species. It is open to the general population and is a good choice after a visit to a museum or noisy market.
Colo I-Suva Forest is located in a deep country rain forest and provides relaxation from the hustle and bustle of the town and the possibility for an open-air advent. There is a large pool for bathing, waterfalls and many birdlife. Colo I-Suva Forest Resort has three swimminpools, a ropeswing, a large pick nick area and toilets.
