Fiji Island - Vunisea, Kadavu #1 in places without cards

Reading Captain Cook Cruises' booklet about her new route to the very isolated Lau Islands of Fiji, we saw her with the sentence "Places without postcards". Kadavu Vunisea (not really one of the Lau Islands, but on the itinerary) is our first port of call for a number of contributions on these places.

The post office comes once a months, there is certainly no Wi-Fi or even a phone number. It is a small fishermen's town, which lives like its forefathers and their forefathers before them. Earlier the captain Cook's team had discussed the (considerable) ceremony paperwork with the boss and got an estimate of when he would be available for us.

We have heard several stories about how the reputation of the tortoise began on Vunisea. All of them include a variant of someone (a girl, fisherman or the chef's wife) caught by villians from another town on the isle. Since the culprits of the crimes came from another town, no one can be related to another town on the isle or to someone on the isle.

As we climbed to the top of the mound, we were welcomed by a group of Fiji wives and kids who smiled, danced, sang and clapped. We were shocked when the ladies of the Isle talked, showed and photographed endlessly with their smart phones! Vunisea in nausea because he wanted to listen to more topical theater.

Maybe to divert attention or, more likely, because they only ever want to go dancing, the tortoise that calls out to the ladies has got our group of folks to do it. Disclaimer: We were the guest of Captain Cook Creises Fiji.
