Archocarpus oratissimus, also known as Terap, Johey oaktree, Johey oaktree, Madang, Tarap ot timber, or Timeadang, is a species of the Moraceae sycamores and.... Coming from Borneo, Palawan and the island of Mindanao, it is related to the jacketfruit, crepedak and bread fruit species, all of which are of the same species named artocarus.

Archocarpus ooratissimus is an eternal green shrub that grows up to 25 m high. It has a powerful fragrance, as the name suggests, and is better than both the Jack and Crepedak. It has a slightly Durian-like aroma, but is not as intensive and lies in the thick peel and not in the flesh.

The ones that have matured on the trees turn browner and finally drop to the floor and can be broken down into two. It can be seen as an intermediary between the jack and bread. When the fruits ripen, they become firm and rough. Only when overripe does the crop drop to the bottom.

Cut the peel, turn and pull lightly to open the mature fruits. On the inside, the fruits are similar to jackfruits, but the colour is whitish and the pulp is usually tender. When opened, the fruits should be eaten quickly (in a few hours) as they quickly lose their taste and oxidize.

Tripura is produced in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Thailand and India for the production of Aricarpus odoratissimus. 3. This variety is mainly planted for eating locally; its brief keeping quality restricts its further use. Artocarus seric (known as Petalai or Boa Tarap) and Artocarus scarawakensis (Pingan or Mount Tarap) are very similar and are often mistaken for A. odoratissimus. A. doratissimus.

Arttocarpus sericarpus has hair, like a large hairy tuft of rambutane, and matures reddish. It is even more difficult because it has the form of A. odoratissimus and it is amber. Lim, Linda B.
