The state of Hawaii is the fiftieth state in the USA and a favourite vacation spot for its inhabitants, but also for international visitors. Oahu is the most visited place where you can find Honolulu, Waikiki Beach and many other possibilities for a restful vacation. It is a good number two, and has great surf and beach as well as a great landscape.

From here you can make daily excursions to Molokai and Lanai islets. Cauai is another jewel in the north-west of the island, while Hawaii Island (or the Big Island) is as big as all of the other island together and is great for star-watching, walking and more of a natural spot in comparison to the other islets.

The Hawaii Islands are an island in the Pacific Ocean, about 3,200 kilometers southwestern of the United States, southern of Alaska and northern of Tahiti. It is the most southerly state in the United States and the second western state after Alaska. Hawaii and Alaska are the only two countries without a common state.

The only state in the United States that is not situated in North America in geographical terms, cultivates coffees, is entirely immersed in waters, is entirely an island, has regal buildings and has no direct line within its borders. Hawaii's highest peak, Mauna Kea, is 4,205 meters higher than Mount Everest if you follow it to the foot of the Pacific Ocean bottom, which is about 10,200 meters high.

The Gathering Place" is the most populated and highly evolved of the islands. Honolulu, the state' s main and biggest town, is located on its south bank; four out of five Kama'aina (Hawaiians) call their home. The Kailua-Kona is the most congested part of the archipelago on the arid, windward side and near the mega-resort Kohala Coast with almost no rain. Surrounded by volcanic massifs, the highway (quite accessible and a must - despite everything rented cars say) links Kohala to Hilo, the biggest city on Big Iceland and district capital with more than 300 inch of rain per year.

Known as "Pineapple Island", once the world's biggest Dole Foods own apple orchard, Lanai is now home to two high-end resort locations.

The Hawaii Volcanoes Natural Parks was transformed into its own in 1961. It was declared an International Biosphere Reserve in 1980. Its name Haleakal? is Hwaiian for "House of the Sun". "In Hawaii Volcanoes on the Big Island of Hawaii you can see the only living vulcano in North America.

Two of the world's most vibrant volcanos are on display in the reserve, providing an insight into the formation of the Hawaii islands and world-famous vistas of spectacular lava scenery. A visit to the Big Island consists of two parts. The Hawaii National Parc is just one of several amazing scenic beauties on the great island of Hawai'i.

Mauna Kea, the highest mountain in the whole wide range of the islands, can also be found, the Waipi'o Valley with its rich vegetation and sandy beaches, and eleven of the thirteen climatic areas of the area. It' on Big Iceland.

One of Hawaii's most sought-after destinations for those looking for good weathers. However, there are variations throughout the year and even between parts of the island. South-western parts are generally much dryer than the north-eastern parts of the isles. The Honolulu is situated in the south-west and has only between 20 and 50 mm of precipitation during most of the year, even more so from November to February.

It' s quite uncommon for the wetest period of the year to fall at the same temperature as the coolest one. The site offers a fabulous compilation of climatic and 4 major island mapping, showing the variations on each island, from fairly arid on the most favoured coastlines to extreme water on the other side of the island and even more so on some of the mountains.

Honolulu International Airports on the Isle of Hawaii (airport code: HNL) is the major gate to the Hawaiian Airlines and the most important gateway for Hawaiian Airlines. From Asia, North America and the Pacific there are connections to Honolulu International Airports. Bus lines 19, 20 and 31 stop on the top floor of the aerodrome.

The routes 19 and 20 link the area with Pearlridge Center (only 20), Hickam AFB (only 19), Downtown Honolulu, Ala Moana Center and Waikiki. The Route 31 links the Aiport with the Tripler Army Medical Center via the Kalihi Transit Center. The routes 9, 40, 40, 40A, 42 and 62 run on the Nimitz motorway within easy walk of the Aiport.

This is Hawaii Island: The Kona International airport (KOA) is the largest on the west side of Big Isl. From Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago there are airlines flying directly to Big Iceland. US and Delta Airlines also operate from Los Angeles. And Maui: Maui: The Kahului International Terminal (airport OGG ) processes all air travel to and from Maui.

The Lihue Airport (LIH) is situated on the south-east shore of the isle. Alaska Airlines fly to Seattle, American Airlines and Delta Airlines to Los Angeles, United Airlines to Los Angeles, Denver and San Francisco, US Airways to Phoenix and there are one-season West Jet services to Vancouver. Whilst the times when everyone came to Hawaii by sea are long gone, there are a few trans-Pacific trips to Hawaii starting from West Shore harbours.

One of the most intriguing ways to see Hawaii is by cruising between the eight isles. If you are an US national boarding in the US and wish to go to Hawaii, you cannot do so ( "because of the U.S. Passenger Vessel Service Act of 1886, which states that vessels flying a flag abroad cannot move a passenger from one US harbour to another unless they stop in a strange land - try Ensenada, Baja California or Vancouver, British Columbia cruises).

A further way to enjoy the traditional cooking while on the road on the isle is to look out for the reconstructed lorries/van, which are regularly placed in petrol stations, some park and a large number of places on the isle. Recently the dining cars have begun to offer other types of cooking besides the normal lunches.

Saimin, a ramen-inspired Hwaiian pasta stew, is a fixed point on the meal and was the first local dish to be prepared in a McDonalds. A further favourite is the McD's Frühstücksplatte at Sichuan McD's with portugese cold cuts, spam, balls and stewed paddy and sometimes with crisppineapples. Even while on the mainland oranges is a fruity alternate to cola or sprite, in Hawaii, fruity pops this roll.

Maybe the best place for a tourist to sample Hawaii' local cuisine is a Lauau (l?'au), a Hawaii' local festival. There are several places on the islands, many of the big resorts. Hawaii' old-fashioned favourites are presented in a contemporary Lauau as p?p? (buffet with starters and small appetisers (similar in scale to typical Mexican tapas) that gave the American Chinese "pupu platter" its name), and there is Hawaii' local folk tunes, hero and other polynese entertainments.

A number of award-winning Hawaiian breweries exist. The Mehana, Sam Choy's, Honu, Waimea Brewing Company, Liz's Stud, Keoki's and Kona Brewing Company all produce in Hawaii or make it on the shore and shipping it to the Hawaiian isles. Kona Brewing is the biggest of the group, which has won several prizes and operates two brewery and restaurant establishments on the island (one in Kailua Kona, the other in Hawaii quay on Oahu).
