Taveuni Fiji

Fiji Taveuni

This is a unique Taveuni experience that explores the edible landscape of the island. The island of Taveuni lies east of Vanua Levu and is Fiji's third largest island. However, just because this tiny Fijian atoll is only a small spot on the map does not mean that it should not be on your radar.

Transport Taveuni

Known as Fiji's Garden Island, Taveuni's confused, vaporous interior is more akin to a primeval jungles than anything that could give way to a hedge trimmer and shear. This unimaginably lush vulcanic bulge, warm and often moist, is surrounded by a rampaging wild palm tree, monstrous fern and wild flower curl, one of which - the Tagimaúcia - is nowhere else in the world.

The thick rain forest is a real attraction for colorful avifauna. Most of the coast of Taveuni is rugged: Voeux Peak can reach 1195m and the cloudy Uluigalau mountain is Fiji's highest peak at 1241m. An immense part of the eastern part of the island consists of a natural park: here you can sweat on mountain walks, chill out under a waterfall, take a stroll along the unimaginably lovely beaches or slide through clear water on a biliilibili (bamboo raft).

Taveuni's splendour does not diminish on the water: the shimmering coral and the varied sea creatures of the Somosomo Strait, Waitabu Naval Park and Vuna Reef attract scuba and snorkelers from all over the globe.

Il Taveuni | Travel Guide | Fiji

These guidebooks will give you the best of Taveuni Iceland and everything you can do in Taveuni. Taveuni is a secret jewel in the South Pacific with wonderful pristine sandy shores, bush walks, falls and historical places that make it one of Fiji's top isles. It is a naturalist' heaven full of activity.

Unfortunately, Taveuni is often overlooked by those who come to Fiji. If, like us, you like being outside, Taveuni is for you. Let us tell you something: if you want to flee the overcrowded areas of the Fijian continent, you will be thrilled that Taveuni is not tourist at all.

Taveuni, Fiji's third biggest isle, is the result of vulcanic activities and is encircled by some of the best diving spots in the whole wide area. Also known as "Garden Island", this coconut-covered archipelago accounts for 60% of the country's population. There are four weekly departures from Nausori Airport (Suva) to Matei Airport (Taveuni).

Waitavala waterslide (the best on Taveuni Island!) is only 15 minutes walking distance from the city. Inquire of the local people about Waitavala Waterslide, they will be happy to lead you and the children will certainly be following you and teaching you some of their best moves. That slim stream of Cascade Waters is a barrel of laughs, but await you a few squashed buttocks and tail bones.

We' d been reading about the waterslide, so we couldn't wait. No. And we couldn't believe how quickly the waters blew us down to the rock. Go through Somosomo and meet the children on the Somosomo River. Before you enter the town, ask your consent, don't let a woman put her feet on, don't put on a hat or sunglass.

Important: The last coach departs Bouma Village at 2pm (Tavoro), so the best way to get around this part of the isle is to hire a personal chauffeur or a cab. Unfortunately we didn't know anything about the schedule, so we didn't have enough free travel around to see the other twofalls.

Thank you Orelia for the connection with Myelean in Taveuni. Be inspired by us to discover the whole wide globe by exchanging our experience, storytelling, videos and useful hints.
